Responsibilities

In this position you will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams designing, developing, and verifying electronics for state-of-the-art sensors and actuators used in a wide array of applications. These projects are executed with a heavy emphasis on high performance, low size, weight, and power consumption. As a senior member of the Instrumentation, Analog, & Power Electronics Group you will help shape hardware architectures and lead electronics development activities by applying sound engineering and project management principles.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics and 15+ years of experience in the design and development of analog and mixed signal circuitry and systems.

  • 5+ years of experience in design, integration, and/or testing of sensors (preferably inertial) and sensor systems.

  • Schematic capture and printed circuit board layout experience.

  • Ability to perform circuit simulation using Spice or variants.

  • System modeling and analysis experience using MATLAB, Simulink, or other comparable tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Physics.

  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: low-noise electronics, analog-digital conversion, methods of synchronous detection, analog and digital signal processing, phase-locked loops, motor control and drive circuits.

  • Microelectronics development experience in Cadence Virtuoso.

  • Experience with component selection and design of electronic hardware for space and/or hostile radiation environments.

  • Experience in design for harsh physical and electromagnetic environments as embodied in military standards such as MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, etc.

  • Knowledge of system grounding/shielding and EMI mitigation techniques.

  • Experience working with discrete semiconductor devices, such as: MOSFETs, IGBTs, BJTs, JFETs, diodes, etc.

This is an electrical design engineering position that requires the ability to apply sound engineering and project management principles for the leadership and execution of sophisticated board design projects within the Electronics Division.</p><p>The ideal candidate is someone who works well in multi-functional teams and has recent experience crafting sophisticated systems using innovative commercial off-the-shelf FGPAs, processors, or systems on a chip (SOCs). It is encouraged that this engineer can start fast on sophisticated PCB designs with limited oversight and learning curve.Core Responsibilities</p><ul><li><p>System architecture design and detailed documentation</p></li><li><p>Detailed electrical analysis, design and schematic capture</p></li><li><p>Lead PCB layout design resources</p></li><li><p>Prototype bring up and debugging</p></li><li><p>Functional verification</p></li><li><p>Performance characterization</p></li></ul><p>Qualifications</p><p>Qualifications:</p><ul><li><p>BSEE, MSEE preferred</p></li><li><p>15+ years overall experience</p></li><li><p>Phenomenal EE fundamentals</p></li><li><p>Strong analysis and problem solving skills</p></li><li><p>Required experience crafting PCBs that integrate commercial pioneering processors, FPGAs and systems on a chip (SOCs). Some examples may include Xilinx Virtex/Zync/Ultrascale, Microsemi Smartfusion/PolarFire, Intel Stratix 10 devices. Experience with small embedded digital / analog systems, especially low power embedded processors (ARM, DSP, MCU, etc.) is also desirable</p></li><li><p>Experience with design of power distribution networks for powerful processors, FPGAs or SOCs. Simulation and verification of power distribution networks using tools such as Ansys SIwave</p></li><li><p>Design experience with high-speed communication and/or memory interfaces (i.e. PCIe, Ethernet, DDR3/4, Multi-gigabit Transceivers).
