Responsibilities

Principal is offering a great opportunity for students interested in investments, video editing, event planning and marketing. This internship is a full-time position during the summer of 2019 located at our corporate headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa with the possibility of beginning part-time in the spring.

Throughout the course of this internship you will be working with our Principal Funds Training team. As an intern, you can expect to gain a broad range of knowledge in funds, event planning and marketing spectrums through various project, administrative, and technical tasks. Your largest responsibility will be in planning and execution of events for our business partners.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Applying forward-thinking and creative solutioning to influence the event design

  • Utilizing strong interpersonal skills to leverage multiple communication mediums to build internal and external audiences, recruit speakers, and partner with vendors

  • Drawing on organizational skills to develop training sessions with industry experts

  • Using leadership skill and attention to detail to coordinate day-of event logistics

As a part of the Valued Intern at The Principal (VIP) program you will be able to attend social activities with other VIP interns, take part in professional development and networking sessions with top-notch finance professionals, and receive one-on-one attention from your leader and mentor so you can take your skills to the next level!

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in a field related to business, marketing, public relations, or business management.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism demonstrated in verbal and written communication

  • Possess strong detail-oriented and organizational skills

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications and social media platforms

  • This job will require communicating with both employees and vendors in remote locations and could require extended hours at times

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience planning and coordinating multiple events from start to finish

  • Experience in video or video editing

  • Previous exposure to event planning and marketing preferred

  • Self-starter with ability to work independently on projects in a productive and efficient manner

Responsibilities The Client Transition Manager will coordinate the termination process of large, complex defined benefit plans. In additional, this role will provide technical support to group representatives, agents, and other pension areas about potential plan/contract revisions. This is a client facing role providing consulting services for large, complex defined benefit plans to ensure plan design and funding vehicle match customer's needs. Provide prompt information and feedback to customers and management. * Participate in the development of team members and business unit by providing technical support, contributing to and leading team meeting discussions, and assisting with the prioritization of work within the team. * Review contract used by customer to ensure it meets customer needs. * Prepare rewrite proposals and process rewrite information upon acceptance. * Guide customers through complex plan mergers and spin-offs. Qualifications Skills required: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent of 8 years' experience. * 4+ years related work experience. (Client facing and experience working with Defined Benefit plans.) * Experience working on DB plan terminations is preferred, but not required.
