The Internship Experience

Principal is offering a great opportunity for students interested in investments, video editing, event planning and marketing. This internship is a full-time position during the summer of 2019 located at our corporate headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa with the possibility of beginning part-time in the spring.
Throughout the course of this internship you will be working with our Principal Funds Training team. As an intern, you can expect to gain a broad range of knowledge in funds, event planning and marketing spectrums through various project, administrative, and technical tasks. Your largest responsibility will be in planning and execution of events for our business partners.
Some responsibilities include:
Applying forward-thinking and creative solutioning to influence the event design
Utilizing strong interpersonal skills to leverage multiple communication mediums to build internal and external audiences, recruit speakers, and partner with vendors
Drawing on organizational skills to develop training sessions with industry experts
Using leadership skill and attention to detail to coordinate day-of event logistics
As a part of the Valued Intern at The Principal (VIP) program you will be able to attend social activities with other VIP interns, take part in professional development and networking sessions with top-notch finance professionals, and receive one-on-one attention from your leader and mentor so you can take your skills to the next level!

Applicants must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in a field related to business, marketing, public relations, or business management.
Minimum 3.0 GPA
Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism demonstrated in verbal and written communication
Possess strong detail-oriented and organizational skills
Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications and social media platforms
This job will require communicating with both employees and vendors in remote locations and could require extended hours at times
Demonstrated experience planning and coordinating multiple events from start to finish
Experience in video or video editing
Previous exposure to event planning and marketing preferred
Self-starter with ability to work independently on projects in a productive and efficient manner
