The Cloud Server Infrastructure Firmware Development (CSI-FW) team is responsible for server hardware definition, design and development of Server and Rack Infrastructure engineering for Microsoft's online services. We work closely with Microsoft product groups, industry partners and researchers to architect and develop server hardware solutions that meet the requirements for our cloud services platforms at the lowest possible cost of ownership (TCO).
A BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
A minimum of 10+ years of experience in BIOS or UEFI FW or embedded FW development
Excellent C/C++ design and coding skills
Understanding of Firmware/Hardware interactions and PC/AT architecture
Prior experience in leading teams involving firmware and/or low-level software development
Excellent understanding of UEFI FW specifications/concepts/driver models (PEI, DXE, BDS) or low level firmware development for hardware components/embedded devices
Knowledge of Server architecture based on Intel, AMD or ARM processors/Silicon
Hands-on experience in firmware development and deeper understanding of Industry standards specifications like (PCIe, ACPI, OS boot loaders, PXE boot, etc.)
Hands-on experience and solid technical understanding of Server Reliability, Availability and Serviceability (RAS) features is preferred
Hands-on experience on state of the art Server Security features rooted in the firmware and/or hardware is preferred
Ability to solve system level issues and usage of source level debug tools like (ITP, Arium, etc.)
Ability to read electrical board schematics, HS buses tuning (DDR, PCIe, etc.)
Knowledge Systems management and BIOS/UEFI FW Interfaces to BMC, OS and other OOB entities.
High tolerance to ambiguity and ability make progress in the face of it
Ability to multi-task, enthusiastic, motivated and self-driven
Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple disciplines and functions (PM, Test, Hardware Engineers, etc.)

This role is for a highly motivated Development Engineering Manager with a background in Operating Systems. Experience in Firmware development is a strong plus. More preferably UEFI development/architecture experience is a highly desirable. You will be involved with all phases of product development, from design through productization, and deployment. At the design phase, you will lead the architecture and design of firmware development and silicon enablement, including; driver interface development, silicon bring-up, protocol and feature development of low-level hardware.
The candidate should have strong coding skills, debugging and troubleshooting abilities, with experience in leading and driver development in either Linux Kernel or Windows Kernel. The successful candidate should have experience with some or all of the following: firmware development, driver development, Windows OS development, yocto, UEFI, network sockets, platform initialization, Board Support Packages, peripherals interfaces such as PCIe, I2C, eMMC, SPI, USB, UARTs. OS primitives, memory management, scheduling, interrupts requests, threading and synchronization.
