Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Principal Field Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in El Segundo, CA.

The successful candidate will perform as a retrofit manager in support of the F/A-18E/F and EA-18G aircraft. The candidate will be responsible for retrofit planning in the proposal phase, retrofit kitting process through retrofit installation. The successful candidate will manage all aspects of an Engineering Change Proposal from a cost and schedule perspective and ultimately support all contractual requirements. Responsibilities include working closely with the customer, program management, and other internal Integrated Product Teams for retrofit development and execution. The successful candidate will have prior aircraft and technical experience, preferably in engineering, manufacturing engineering and or fighter jet maintainer background. Experience with Project/Program Management and required tools is preferred.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)

  • 5 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing engineering and/or fighter jet maintenance OR 3 Years with Master's degree

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Windows, MS Word, Excel, Access and Power Point)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with F/A-18 aircraft systems, subsystems and structure experience, specifically a retrofit background and familiarization with Engineering Change Proposals, U.S. Navy Validation & Verification process

  • Experience with reading and translating engineering drawings and technical directives and specifications

  • Military background

  • Strong communication skills required (verbal, writing, and presentation

  • Demonstrated leadership skills
