Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Engineer Structural to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our South Bay Vehicle Engineering organization. The selected candidate will fulfill the role of a Thermal Analysis Engineer. This position is located in Redondo Beach, CA.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for applying technical principles, theories, and concepts of heat transfer to design and analysis of new systems.

  • Responsible for performing thermal analysis using software (MSC SINDA, SINDA/FLUINT, Thermal Desktop) to solve a variety of technical problems.

  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines and documenting thermal analyses and designs.

  • Reporting analysis results and design specifics to internal management and external customers when necessary.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of STEM related engineering experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience or STEM PhD with 0 years of experience.

  • Experience using thermal analysis tools such as (MSC SINDA, SINDA/FLUINT, Thermal Desktop)

  • Must have an ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

  • Must have an ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SPA).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A current active in-scope U.S. Government issued DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SPA).

Salary Range: $104,600.00 - $157,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.

Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
