Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has openings for an experienced Principal Engineer Software - Java to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Beavercreek, OH.

The selected candidate will develop Java applications.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with a team of developers and integrators focused on delivering software products as part of an IFC.

  • Participate in the software development cycle including design, implementation and delivery of build/test/release.

  • Work with object oriented programming, design patterns, JMS, Web Services, XML and related technologies (i.e., XPath, XSLT, XSD)

  • Develop enterprise solutions for Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) in a SOA environment

  • Work in a process-oriented software development environment across the software lifecycle

  • Collaborate with team members on a regular basis.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable in a lab environment and be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university with 5 years of software engineering experience, or a Masters degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of software engineering experience, or a PhD in a STEM discipline with no experience

  • Direct experience developing Java applications

  • An active Top Secret clearance to start with the ability to obtain and maintain program access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering

  • Experience in developing enterprise solutions for Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) in a SOA environment

  • Experience with object oriented programming, design patterns, JMS, Web Services, XML and related technologies (i.e., XPath, XSLT, XSD)

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for a Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Beavercreek, OH. This team of Engineers will primarily support development and sustainment of software using the Agile methodology. The codebase is primarily Java but also includes small portions written in C and Python. The product consists of desktop applications as well as backend processes but also includes some web-oriented technologies as well. Essential Functions: * Develop enterprise solutions for Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) in a SOA environment * Work with object oriented programming, design patterns, JMS, Web Services, XML and related technologies (i.e., XPath, XSLT, XSD) * Work in a process-oriented software development environment across the software lifecycle * Collaborate with team members on a regular basis * Our Software Engineers operate in a fast-paced Agile environment with four week long sprints. This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4 Software Engineer. Level 3 Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university with 5 years of software engineering experience; or a Master's degree with 3 years of software engineering experience; or a PhD in STEM program without prior software engineering experience. Four additional years of software engineering experience can be considered in lieu of degree. * An active DoD Top Secret clearance to start with the ability to obtain and maintain program access Level 4 Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university with 9 years of software engineering experience; or a Master's degree with 7 years of software engineering experience; or a PhD in STEM program with 4 years of prior software engineering experience. Four additional years of software engineering experience can be considered in lieu of degree. * An active DoD Top Secret clearance to start with the ability to obtain and maintain program access Level 3 & 4 Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering * Experience developing software / writing code in Java, C , C# or other OOP (Object Oriented Programming) languages. * Experience with scripting languages and messaging protocols such DDS, JMS, and Web Services (SOA and Rest) * Knowledge of Linux/Solaris systems with basic commands * Experience developing/integrating enterprise solutions for Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) in a SOA environment * Experience in object oriented programming, design patterns, JMS, Web Services, XML and related technologies (i.e., XPath, XSLT, XSD). * Understanding of unit testing, including path, line, and bound coverage. * Familiarity with SEI CMM/CMMI, IEEE or military standard software engineering practices. * Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
