Location(s): United States; Ohio; West Chester
The Principal Engineer provides consultation and technical direction to the engineering community on near term and longer-range projects with substantial business impact.
The Principal Engineer, key responsibilities will include:
Remain current in the state of the art of Directed Energy Deposition (DED) Additive Manufacturing technology for new products introduction activity, performance improvements, cost reductions and problem resolutions
Support other GE businesses, supplier, and internal / external customers
Serve as a recognized leader in defining the state of the art DED technology in order to anticipate, develop and apply technology to current and future business opportunities
Provide engineering support to teams working on performance, cost reduction and quality initiatives
Leverage expertise to resolve problems in the field or during the manufacturing processes
Make recommendations after analysis of the data using quality tools
Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company
Function as program manager when appropriate; developing opportunities and managing project execution
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers
Develop and implement training modules as necessary
Participate in industry committees and consortium related to Additive Manufacturing
Attend and present technical presentations at Additive Manufacturing industry conferences
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 10 years of experience working in the area of Engineering, Engineering Technology or related technical specialty)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering, Technology or a related field
Experience with developing and implementing Directed Energy Deposition (DED) Additive Manufacturing processes (wire and powder fed), robotic programming, and application of CAD / CAM tools preferred
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
Established project management skills
Hands on approach to solving problems and developing technology
