Description

The UX Foundation team is responsible for creating services and resources that accelerate front end teams delivering Nike.com. Our projects include common components, backend tools for front end teams and core CSS for all of Nike.com.

Your role will be a new one, working with the front end teams to improve analytics instrumentation and observability on nike.com. This involves working closely with the data capture, site reliability and front end engineering teams.

You will lead by example in delivering critical solutions from concept to production and be an advocate of emerging technologies and development techniques to address current and future consumer needs. You will serve as mentor, providing technical guidance and support to team members. Presenting complex ideas, anticipating potential objections, and persuading others to consider your point of view are all skills and situations where you excel.

Your customers are the front end engineers working on nike.com experiences and a significant part of your job is reaching out to these teams to understand their challenges and supporting their adoption of our tools and services.

Qualifications

What we're looking for:

  • You have 8+ years of software development experience

  • You have strong skills in team leadership and building positive relationships across Engineering, Product and Architecture

  • You can present and explain technical efforts at multiple levels of detail

  • You preferably have experience with AWS

  • You have prior experience in analytics instrumentation and front end metrics for application monitoring.

  • You have experience working full stack but with a focus on Node.js

  • You value empathy

  • You thrive on collaboration and in a communal environment

  • You are an excellent communicator

  • You have a commitment to performing technical code reviews

  • You value practical and simple solutions

We will ask you to take a strong, consumer-focused view of every deliverable and —through collaboration—your work will influence quality strategies across Nike Digital. You will focus on defining and implementing scalable automated solutions that support our quality goals. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining UI test scripts to ensure our Nike App meets the high quality standards that our consumers expect. Your work in software development, test automation, and validation should result in the reduction of defects released into production, improved app store ratings, and enhanced consumer experiences. You may also be involved in defining test coverage, developing test plans, creating and maintaining test cases, executing functional and performance tests, evaluating and reporting on the quality of existing technologies and new features in Nike's rapidly evolving ecosystem. You'll need to be flexible and adaptable because our world changes daily; you will spend most of your time embedded on a small, strike force team solving a business problem but you'll also bring great experience and motivation to the whole quality organization. You will be passionately pragmatic, sincerely savvy and a world-class diplomat capable of negotiation, reinvention, and smart compromise. You may also be required to: * Engage Product, Program, Engineering, and Design teams to design test strategies, influence unit and integration testing conducted by engineering teams, and compose test plans for automated, manual, and performance tests executed by Quality teams for targeted mobile experiences * Develop, modify, apply, and maintain standards for software quality operating methods, processes, systems and procedures * Conduct software inspection, testing, verification, and validation which results in the reduction of defects released into production, improves app store ratings, and enhances consumer experience * Train and motivate teams of peers, engineers, or others to execute on the test plans and strategies that you define * Review software design, change specifications, and plans against process requirements * Support Site Reliability and engineering teams with problem triage and resolution * Perform or direct verification of software requirement allocations, traceability, and testability * Participate in bug scrubs and prioritization sessions * Develop metrics and reports to share with cross-functional teams and Nike leadership * Regularly update peers, stakeholders, and leaders on goals, key performance indicators, and outcomes Qualifications What we're looking for: * Excellent knowledge of mobile software QA processes and methodologies * 3-5 years of professional work experience in a software QA engineer role * Skill in writing UI automation on iOS using native tools and languages * Experience with Swift and working knowledge of the Xcode IDE * Experience with Fastlane configuration and customization * Experience in developing test plans, assessing risk, and providing relevant data for reporting * Exposure to hierarchical and distributed code repository management tools * Strong problem-solving skills and a demonstrated competency with mobile/web technologies like Java, data structures, shell scripting, object oriented development, and test tools/framework * Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle, including experience working in an Agile development environment * Excellent knowledge of software testing methodologies and debugging tools, including Charles Proxy and Xcode. * Experience in developing test plans, assessing risk, writing defects, and providing relevant data for test reporting * Exposure to a "pixel perfect" brand-focused organization is a plus * December 2018 * Self motivated, independent, and proactive * Detail oriented, analytical, and creative thinker with passion for quality processes • Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, information systems, or equivalent experience preferred.
