Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Strategic Sourcing Principal Manufacturing Engineer to be part of the Global Supply Chain Sourcing organization to perform Production and Sustainment technical support activities for multiple military air-vehicle program platforms located in Redondo Beach, CA.

The responsibilities include the technical administration of all aspects of analysis, development, integration, execution and producibility. The position provides technical oversight and guidance to Supplier Management personnel and interfaces with program engineering on all associated aspects of concept and design, which is required execute build to packages released to supply chain successfully. Responsible to proactively identify and mitigate potential supply chain gaps, identify and develop new capabilities to address incongruities to existing manufacturing industry capabilities.

Job Description:

Candidate will be responsible with minimal support for analyzing engineering design concepts, assembly theory, fabrication drawings, inspection requirements, procurement requirements, verification requirements, and aligning required fabrication capabilities and capacity to support Aeronautics platform applications for assigned commodities.

  • Review and interpret technical specifications, validate requirements for design, and manufacturing milestones to support component deliverables

  • Technical responsibilities to determine proper commodity designations, individual specification and hardware deliverables

  • Support internal technical and non-technical review meetings as required

  • Provide support to GSC representative at formal Engineering Technical Review meetings, and Configuration Review Boards and Change Boards

  • Arrange for liaison between Northrop Grumman Global Supply Chain, Suppliers and Customers including technical team counterpart representatives

  • Perform root cause investigation and implement corrective actions to eliminate non-conformances and improve manufacturing process repeatability

  • Develop sourcing business prospects and maintain project schedules using MS Project and/or other reporting and presentation tools

Candidate should succeed in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels professional and technical. Candidate must be comfortable and willing to handle administrative and technical demands. Understand ERP system requirements and be able to work in partnership with metallurgy and process engineering, system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and a minimum of 5 years of project management or lead engineering responsibilities, (9) years of experience total in lieu of a Bachelor's degree), or 3 years of experience with a Master's degree.

  • Minimum of a 1 year of experience in a composites manufacturing role

  • 3 years of advanced use of MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook; other productivity tools

  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Clearance as needed by the business.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Project/Program/Business Management

  • Experience with advanced composites manufacturing processes (prepreg processing, drilling and routing of composites, structural adhesives) for large scale, primary structures in a high-volume manufacturing environment

  • Experience working with Siemens NX CAD suite

  • Six (6) years or more experience in systems or hardware design and integration.

Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA. The selected candidate will apply electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to produce space-flight and avionics microelectronic assemblies. Essential Functions: * Continuously improves production yields by performing DOE's, implementing and tracking Statistical Process Controls, Pareto charts and applicable metrics.- Supports and participates in the design, modification, fabrication, and mechanical & electrical testing of prototype and production microelectronic assemblies. * Develops, improves, and qualifies production processes. * Creates & maintains process procedures.- Is responsible for establishing and reviewing build plans to ensure that all flow down requirements are met. * Identifies, designs and co-ordinates the fabrication and fit check of all tooling necessary to support production. * Reviews and/or creates tooling drawings that they are producible, error free, and contain sufficient detail to ensure proper assembly. * Leads the evaluation, disposition, and rework of all discrepancies on product and performs root cause analysis on all defects and coordinates the implementation of cost effect corrective actions. * Methodically resolves technical issues. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable in a lab environment and be able to collaborate closely with cost account managers, assembly technicians, PM&P engineers, process planners, product engineers, and electrical/test engineers. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of engineering experience; OR STEM Master's degree with 3 years of engineering experience; OR STEM PhD. degree with 0 years of engineering experience. * Extensive experience in systematic process improvement methods such as Lean Six Sigma. * Experience in a production environment. * Experience designing, fabricating, and assembling tools, jigs, and factory equipment. * Hands-on experience with electromechanical systems, and working with tools and machines. * Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Government SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years. Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineer or Industrial Engineering. * Experience with design, development and/or manufacturing of microelectronic assemblies. * Programming in VBA. * Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward). * Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management. * Able to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplishing them simultaneously. * Ability to negotiate and integrate different viewpoints. * Active SCI clearance.
