Job Description:

The Central CAD team in Microchip provides CAD services to the design business units. A wide range of CAD services are provided. These include PDK development and delivery, hardware infrastructure support, design tool installation, distribution and support, Library and IP procurement and infrastructure support, as well as design flow environment, methodology, and support for Microchip's digital, analog, and mixed-signal designs.

What will you do in this position?

You will be part of the CAD Power Integrity Development group. Most focus is on the backend part of design implementation checking of EM/IR for digital, mixed-signal, and RF systems. Other efforts include power savings in the RTL digital implementation.

Key job responsibilities/duties include

  • Analyze system EM/IR results to determine design layout improvement solutions.

  • Analyze digital system RTL to determine power savings opportunities. Implement corresponding changes to reduce power.

  • Develop flows to be used for teams for power integrity and power analysis.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to design teams.

  • Organize and deliver training to groups and companywide on power integrity and power saving analysis.

Requirements/Qualifications:

BS in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 4+ years of experience

  1. Digital EM/IR background with the following knowledge:

Experience with Ansys Redhawk/Redhawk-SC, Cadence Voltus for Power Analysis,

and EM/IR.

Knowledge of place & route tools (Cadence Innovus, Synopsys ICC2) very valuable.



  1. Custom design background with the following knowledge:

Experience with Ansys Totem or Cadence Voltus-FI

Experience with Cadence EAD

Cadence Custom Design/Layout environment using Virtuoso & Assembler/Explorer

Spice simulator usage

Cadence Skill programming

Physical verification & extraction experience helpful



  1. Digital RTL/architectural background with the following knowledge:

Experience with Ansys PowerArtist, Cadence Joules for Power Analysis/savings

Strong knowledge of Verilog with emphasis on RTL, rather than system or gate level.

Knowledge of UPF/CPF.

Experience in design group writing RTL, doing simulations, and other

front-end validation steps.

For all three areas:

Fundamental programming skills (Bash, Perl, Python, TCL, or similar languages).

  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Excellent organization and communication skills, written & verbal.

  • Ability to develop positive working relationships and a strong rapport with the team.
