Responsibilities

The candidate will work with Draper's Embedded Software Group with the focus on low-power sensor systems, multi-processor based system containing real-time data acquisition and processing electronics and complex embedded software systems. The candidate must be motivated to help identify product and technology roadmaps for the group.

We seek applicants who are highly experienced in the areas of:

  • Embedded software development on ARM processors, low power microcontrollers, C/C++, Rust, RTOS, embedded Linux

  • System and software architecture

  • Hardware interfaces and driver development

  • Communication protocols such as CAN, I2C, SPI, Serial, USB, Bluetooth Low Energy, TCP/IP and Wi-Fi

  • C#, Java or Android development experience (is an added plus)

  • Continuous integration and deployment

  • Open source software with emphasis on modularity, extensibility and reuse

  • Risk management, cost/time/performance trade-off and safety decisions necessary to meet product's performance, reliability, manufacturability/serviceability, and business objectives

  • Thorough understanding of the product development and engineering project management processes.

  • Thorough understanding of compilers, make files, linker scripts, in-circuit emulators, JTAG debuggers, and laboratory test equipment such as logical analyzers and oscilloscopes

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Demonstrated success in technical decision making in a matrix organization

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

MS degree in engineering with at least 10 years of experience.

Security Requirement:

Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
