Principal Embedded AI Strategy Architect

TheMicrosoft Azure Edge Devices, Platforms & Services (AEDPLS) teamis chartered with building devices and experiences that help our ecosystem of partners and customers leverage Azure to accelerate their creation and adoption of the next generation of connected, intelligent, and autonomous edge solutions. We work across a wide range of industries, partner types, device form factors, and service technologies to enable new application scenarios, provide in-depth business insights and safeguard the security and privacy of our customer/partners data.

We are looking for a senior embedded AI software engineer to join us as a Lead Embedded AI Architect, and Technical Advisor reporting to AED CTO. The Embedded AI architect will lead the definition and convergence of complex and novel embedded AI technologies for the edge. The product architectures will define state-of-the-art edge computing AI acceleration for embedded systems paired with cloud technologies. The scope of the role is broad, designing client and cloud tools and services that will power a wide array of new sensing systems, networking, general and AI acceleration compute, MPUs, MCUs, display/optics systems, input devices, and edge devices such as intelligent cameras, intelligent audio, intelligent gateways, and PC/Phone form factors. The architect will also have responsibility for incubation of new technologies from proof of concept through integration into products for mass production and commercialization. We are looking for someone with proficient technical communication skills with the ability to collaborate successfully across functional teams, including silicon, cloud services, development tools, hardware engineering, partnerships, and core technology groups.

Required Qualifications

• In-depth understanding of embedded systems and ML acceleration in ARM and MCU architectures.

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the technology industry, with focus on embedded devices.

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

• Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals across functional teams and ability to meet or exceed expected timelines for projects.

• Demonstrated ability to uncover systemic issues and drive failure analysis to root cause swiftly and accurately.

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• Outstanding customer obsession and empathy for users.

• Excellent communication skills with an ability to clearly articulate and share your vision, ideas and plans with colleagues and to be able to deal constructively with opposing views or opinions.

Responsibilities

• Develop Azure Edge embedded AI systems, across many form factors and devices including sensor devices such as cameras, gateways, PC's and Phone formfactors.

• Identify and evaluate next-generation embedded Ai acceleration software technologies suitability for incorporation into our product portfolio.

• Engage with internal product teams, architects, and business leaders to understand and inform ai acceleration technology roadmaps.

• Work closely with external partners to explore co-engineering efforts and new designs.
