Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Principal Electronics Engineer - Radar Engineer to our team in Rancho Bernardo, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization supporting RQ-4 Global Hawk Program.

This candidate will be a member of a team responsible for the system integration, test development, and execution of various types of complex sensor systems.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Create and develop documentation for system requirements and interfaces, independently, including system engineering drawings and diagrams
  • Collaborate on solutions to troubleshoot systems to resolve complex issues, interact and coordinate with other IPTs for sustainment of fielded subsystems
  • Lead discussions and investigations between the Operations & Test organization and the engineering team
  • Ensure Sensor performance meets specified levels
  • Proactively maintain overall system performance of deployed Systems
  • Perform troubleshooting, document issues and coordinate field replacements/upgrades of sensor systems
  • Contribute to improvements of processes, design and future sustainment efforts
  • Actively generate and present Program Risk and Opportunities to Program Management

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. Once in role, the position could offer a hybrid work environment. Scheduled telework days are approved at manager's discretion. This position requires the ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 0 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience with installation, integration, and troubleshooting of aviation related Sensor systems
  • Must be a self-directed technical performer with strong communication skills, demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary technical trades, and ability to develop & execute to a strategy
  • Active in-scope, DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance once in position.
  • At some point, selected candidate may be required to obtain and maintain Special Program Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active in-scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Master's Degree in an Engineering Discipline
  • Experience with developing supplier documentation, requirements and performance-based specifications
  • Working knowledge of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Moving Target Indicator (MTI) systems and theory
  • Advanced proficiency with MATLAB, C/C++, Python, or related languages

Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
