Timken Belts, located in Springfield, MO, is searching for production supervisor.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for advising on safety measures, conducting risk assessments, and enforcing preventative measures for the Springfield plant.
Summary of Responsibility:
Source of knowledge concerning all Federal, State and local rules and regulations pertaining to Environmental and Safety regulations and good industry practice.
Administer health, wellness, and safety programs to reduce employee/employer risk
Distribute educational material regarding health & safety to develop a more informed workforce
Conduct safety audits of company facility, make recommendations, and perform in a consulting role to maintain federal & state compliance
Communicate and interpret OSHA requirements, Workers Compensation, and promulgate plans to ensure compliance to all statutes/standards, reducing company liability, employee risks, and potential fines
Help maintain recording standards to comply with OSHA guidelines
Monitor employee exposure levels and maintain records and take corrective action to eliminate work-related injury/illness
Recommend & assist developing health & wellness related policies which promote the company's philosophy for a safe and healthy workplace.
Train and test medical team members to assure a high degree of medical competency
Guide and assist First Response team members to maintain fire containment skills
Maintain employee's health and safety records in a confidential manner
Recommend & assist establishing training programs for the development of production supervisors and other management personnel
Maintain and administer documents and findings of Workers' Compensation claims confidentially
Partner with third party administrator and insurance carriers

Provide support to ensure compliance with the following:
Air regulations, permits, and standards
Wastewater regulations, permits and standards
Storm/Rainwater regulations, permits and standards
Spill prevention and control regulations and standards
Waste regulations and standards
Transportation of Hazardous Materials
Chemical management regulations and standards
Other regulations and standards as applicable (e.g., American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), Steel Tank Institute (STI))

Understanding Safety Regulations, and other Standards:
Provide support to ensure compliance with the following:
Asbestos Control / Bloodborne Pathogen / Chemical Hygiene Plan / Chemical Management / Confined Spaces / Electrical Safety / Emergency Action Planning / Fall Protection / Flammable Liquids / Hazard Communication / Hearing Conservation / Heat-Related Illness Prevention Program / Hot Work Permit / Industrial Hygiene (e.g. respiratory protection, air monitoring, noise monitoring, etc.) / Ionizing Radiation Safety / Laser Safety / Lead and Cadmium / Lockout/Tagout/Tryout / Machine Guarding and Design / Medical management / Overhead Cranes / Personal Protective Equipment / Powered Industrial Trucks
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
BA/BS in Environmental, Health or Safety or related field is required
Master's Degree (preferred)
ASP or CSP Certification preferred
Five years minimum of environmental, health and safety experience; expertise in environmental health within a manufacturing environment a plus
Proven ability to plan strategically and understand current conditions, envision the ideal state & develop a plan
Strong communication skills to all levels of the organization
Strong employee relations skills
Systematic thinking/strong diagnosis and problem-solving skills
Strong Microsoft Office experience (excel, word, powerpoint, etc.)
Previous manufacturing experience a plus
Ability to practice a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
Must be able to relate to individuals at all levels, be sensitive to corporate needs, and local needs
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and complete necessary production forms. Ability to speak effectively with fellow employees and/or customers.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, rate, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables; problem solving ability.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, and use hands/arms. The employee is regularly required to talk, hear at conversational level, and smell. The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds. Moving/lifting greater than 50 pounds requires assistance from another employee or a lifting device/hoist. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is may be frequently exposed to chemicals, hot/cold conditions, or noisy conditions.
Required Personal Protective Equipment: Employee is required to wear proper safety eyewear and steel-toed shoes at all times while on the plant floor.
