This position has supervisory responsibility and creates a unifying workforce vision that brings Team Member Development, Performance Management, and Succession Planning together. The Principal position reports directly to the Superintendent. The principal plans, develops, and implements programs and services for the school. The principal is empowered to execute school policies and procedures. The principal is responsible for conceptualizing, developing and facilitating the implementation of projects in support of policies, goals, and objectives established by the superintendent, chief executive officer and the executive directors by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff.

Principals must have a high level of interpersonal skills in order to handle sensitive and confidential situations. This position requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy. Principals must work effectively and relate well with others including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside of the district. Principals must act in a professional manner in dealing with others and they must work to maintain constructive working relationships. They must also have the ability to represent the school and district effectively in a variety of settings with diverse communities. Principals must also have the ability to demonstrate understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures.
Essential Principal Job Duties
Establish a cohesive culture through the consistent application of policies, procedures and accountability.
Develops and evaluates the educational program to ensure alignment to state and district standards.
Develops and coordinates educational programs through meetings with staff, review of teachers' activities and confirmation of directives given by supervisors. (Monthly all Staff and bi-weekly Team Lead)
Establishes and maintains relationships with community organizations and other schools.
Directs and oversees both long and short-term strategic planning and budgeting based on school goals and growth objectives.
Creates the structure and processes necessary to manage the schools current activities and its projected growth.
Conceptualizes, develops and facilitates programs and guidelines that will impact student improvement.
Promotes communication and adequate information flow within the district.
Participates on committees, special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.
Develops a succession plan for all positions.
Participates in the implementation and ongoing evaluation of the curriculum.
Prepares and facilitates upcoming professional development trainings that increases student performance by:
Ensuring Saxon/Spalding are being implemented with fidelity.
Training staff to effectively use data to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses ensuring data driven instruction.
Providing AzMERIT, AIMS and NWEA MAP student data to teachers and advising them on how to target areas of need.
Adheres to the school calendar of events.
Oversees and attends regular meetings with PTO/PVO. If PTO fulfils role of second vice president.
Follows up on all phone calls and emails daily respond within 24 hours.
Plans and leads daily flag ceremony.
Schedules and facilitates parent information nights.
Manages the schools budget; reviews and approves/disapproves purchases.
Monitors grading period testing results.
Establishes school-wide goals (SMART) each year.
Develop, monitor and collaborate with teachers to create and accomplish professional goals.
Disaggregate, analyze, track and present data to assist teachers in its interpretation to measure and improve student achievement and/or program effectiveness.
Principal Job Duties
Confers with teachers, students and parents concerning educational and behavioral issues in school.
Places requisitions, allocates supplies, equipment and instructional material as needed.
Directs preparation of class schedules, cumulative records and attendance reports.
Performs routine security checks and oversees building maintenance around school property to ensure safety.
Responsible for designating (2) campus tour guides
Hires, trains, develops, and appraises staff effectively. Develops teaching staff to improve individual teaching techniques.
Observes and evaluates staff performance (responsible for eight out of ten or fifteen out of twenty Instructional Feedback Forms as well as two formal evaluations per year for all K-6/SPED teachers. For JH/Specials principals are responsible for two out of ten or four out of twenty Instructional Feedback Forms. All Instructional Feedback Forms should be instructional in nature.
Takes corrective action as needed, on a timely basis and in accordance with district policy. Provides quick remediation and/or corrective action for low teacher performance.
Consults with human resources as appropriate. Addresses faculty personnel issues and documents accordingly.
