Shipt Data Science team is looking for an established market research principal with significant B2C and/or B2B industry experience to drive inorganic growth by identifying and executing exciting acquisition and strategic investment opportunities. We are hiring a principal data scientist of Market research to perform critical market intelligence and strategic analysis to inform executive decision-making across the company.
Shape and grow market intelligence for Shipt
Perform industry landscape analysis, competitor analysis, company investigation, expert network calls, financial modeling, and investment thesis building
Lead market intelligence efforts and strategic analysis for Shipt
Perform research, including industry overviews, TAM sizing analyses, market share calculations, company landscaping, financial analysis, valuations, and build/buy/partner analyses.
Perform structured qualitative and quantitative financial analysis, interpret and synthesize data, analyze internal and external road maps
Proactively develop integrated insights and develop sound, actionable recommendations.
Identify and evaluate strategic inorganic growth opportunities.
Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, your findings to executive and other audiences.
7+ years of work experience as a marketing researcher, preferably in the technology sector. Experience on the vendor side is also applicable.
Experience with various qualitative and quantitative research methodologies such as ethnography, contextual interviews, surveys, conjoint, customer journeys and more.
Proven ability to use customer insights to drive a holistic marketing strategy.
Ability to distill research findings into clear, and compelling data backed presentations, data visualizations, and/or infographics.
Great interpersonal skills to collaborate with a wide diversity of colleagues in other disciplines and cultures.
Experience programming surveys and performing data analysis and synthesis from DIY software is preferred
Familiarity with design thinking and lean experimentation is a plus
Ability to turn streams of data into actionable recommendations to guide, inform, and inspire tactical actions and long-term planning to improve the customer experience.
Project/program management skills - the ability to break down complex projects into manageable tasks in partnership with supporting teams to deliver to specifications and on time.
Driven to get the whole story, and to deeply know the business you support.
Passionate about customer experience, ecommerce, delivery logistics, and how these spaces are evolving.
Ability to collaborate and also operate independently.
Comfortable working in and bringing structure to ambiguous environments.
Minimum of 7+ years of conducting Market Research projects end-to-end, as well as producing and actioning data-driven insights required. Focus on ecommerce is preferred
5+ years of meaningful experience preferably in a strategy or management consulting firm, or internal strategy organization
Experienced quantitative client or vendor side Market Research professional working with established survey methods, questionnaire writing, and analytical techniques is preferred. If the candidate is experienced in eCommerce and Analytics, a strong desire to quickly ramp up and master Market Research skills is required.
Experience successfully advocating for insights-driven change with leadership and task forces.
Proficient in data visualization and storytelling in general, especially tools like Tableau and power BI
