The Position:

Join Pega's global Data Center Operations team in ensuring operational success of servers, storage, backups, software and power. You will monitor and maintain Data Center assets across a diverse range of platforms, evaluate and recommend new systems, and influence the future direction of Pega's data center operations. They demonstrate a very high level of technical knowledge subject matter expertise in all Data Center Engineering technologies and platforms.

In this role, you will:

  • Assume technical operational responsibility for all Data Center servers (physical & virtual), and SANs (EMC & Compellent)

  • Procure and deploy all Data Center servers (physical & virtual) and SANs (EMC & Compellent)

  • Act as Tier 4 escalation of server and VM and SAN trouble tickets

  • Evaluate new server and storage platforms from a technical perspective and make recommendations

  • Fulfill end user server/storage/backup/restore requests, perform root cause analysis, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives which improve user experience

  • Use best practices to establish proactive and repeatable approach to service operations.

  • Adhere to set SLAs to maximize uptime and ensure optimal systems stability.

The Person:

You will demonstrate a very high level of technical knowledge and subject matter expertise in all Data Center Engineering technologies and platforms. You will have a passion for driving systems and operations projects and making recommendations on process improvements.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline and/or equivalent industry experience.

  • 5-9+ years' technical infrastructure knowledge in server operating systems at similar sized company.

  • Expert at implementing and maintaining highly available environments.

  • Expert at architecting, configuring, implementing and supporting enterprise level systems.

  • Work in a highly dynamic environment to support a global user base and be responsible to ensure that development projects are well architected.

  • Technical infrastructure knowledge, including hands on experience with server operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, Storage, UNIX/Linux, virtual hosts VMware ESX

  • Strong knowledge of cloud, including Infrastructure as a Service, public and private cloud solutions

  • Experience with automation and orchestration tools such as Chef, Puppet, Docker, vCAC, and Embotics

  • Solid understanding of storage systems including SAN, NFS, and Object
