Ramboll Environ is seeking qualified candidates to join our East Coast business unit and lead our New York City and metro service area business.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Provide overall senior leadership in business development, financial performance, staff development and mentoring, and provide technical direction to staff in a "seller-doer" environment as we grow and develop Ramboll Environ's New York City environmental and engineering services capabilities;

  • Develop, direct, lead New York City and New York State environmental and brownfield projects under NYC OER, E-Designation/HAZMAT, State Superfund, NYCDEP, bulk storage/AST, UST and petroleum spills, and related NYS/NYC site remediation and cleanup programs;

  • Develop, direct, and lead climate change, sustainability, and resiliency projects;

  • Lead the completion of Phase I ESAs, Site Investigation/Phase II ESAs, remedial investigations, and development of remedial investigation and remedial action plans;

  • Lead the investigation, remedial planning, permitting, and remediation of air, water, wastewater, vapor, soils, sediment, and other media at sites throughout the metro-NYC area;

  • Develop work scopes and budget schedules for new projects;

  • Provide remediation cost estimates;

  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and deadlines;

  • Lead the preparation of deliverables for regulatory agencies;

  • Mentor junior staff and participate in performance-related activities.

Required Skills

  • MS degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related technical field;

  • Demonstrable relationships with NYSDEC, NYCDEP, and other NYC regulatory agencies;

  • Demonstrable relationships with authorities (e.g., NY/NJ Port Authority, MTA, DDC, Housing, Schools Construction) and public contracting experience;

  • Strong technical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent presentation skills;

  • Demonstrable legal, business, and developer contacts and credibility/reputation in the field;

  • Motivation and ability to develop new contacts and business in a "seller-doer" model;

  • Strong motivation to produce quality work products on budget and on time;

  • Ability to simultaneously perform on and manage numerous technically complex projects while working on separate technical project teams;

  • Capability to travel within 100 miles of New York City and occasionally outside the area;

  • NY PE highly desirable;

  • Other professional licensure desirable but not required.

Required Experience

  • 15+ years of experience of which a substantial amount has involved performing/implementing hazmat, OER, NYCDEP, NYSDEC, RCRA, UST, and related New York remediation projects;

  • Experience negotiating with regulators and/or participating on negotiation teams for environmental and land use permitting including Water permits, federal/USACE permits, wetlands, soils, SPDES, and SEQR;

  • Working with the NYSDEC, NYCDEP, NYC OER, and NJDEP Site Remediation Program officials and other regulatory agencies;

  • Conducting presentations in-house and at technical meetings and conferences;

  • Current 8-hr. refresher for 40-hr. HAZWOPER training.

Our Wastewater Operations group is experiencing robust growth and TRC is seeking a unique professional to support and expand our presence throughout the country. Wastewater Operations Principal for the greater Gulf Coast Region and expanding to the entire Continental US. This position will direct our wastewater operator team, including both internal and contract personnel, and various operations projects located throughout the continental US. The position requires an individual who possesses a track record of fostering relationships to help direct our teams in this market to develop and successfully implement a business plan that achieves growth. The successful candidate will identify and cultivate market opportunities, develop strategic partnerships; conduct market, business and financial analytics; and interface cross-functionally with other leaders in the organization. The candidate must have engineering and practical experience working on water and wastewater treatment systems and stormwater projects including those at water and wastewater treatment plants, water storage facilities, pipelines, and pump stations. The candidate must have the ability to direct operation and maintenance activities and staff, and to act as liaison with clients/owners, consultants, technicians, contractors, design professionals, and regulatory agencies. This position will sit in the Arlington, TX Office and report to the Arlington ECR Practice Leader. Responsibilities * Oversee the direction of wastewater treatment operations group with staff located at client facilities throughout the Continental US. * Has an understanding of engineering processes and their application to water/wastewater operating systems. * Works with WW Operations Team Leader to develop site-specific or functional goals and activities required to meet overall business objectives. Maintains standards, guidelines, and procedures. Identifies and implements needed process improvements, evaluates new concepts, technologies, and practices. * Responsible for client relationships and meeting client requirements for the operations, including preparation of management plans and periodic reports. * Creates and maintains open and productive communications among subordinates, sub-consultants, TRC management, contractors, clients, and the public. Maintains excellent relationships with staff, contractors, and clients. * Ensures safe performance of all plant operations. * Responsible for contract execution and performance with clients. Understands, interprets and makes sound determinations regarding contract requirements. Verifies all contract documentation is generated timely and filed in proper order. * Resolves or facilitates the resolution of all discrepancies or problems and issues arising from operations. * Has computer, spreadsheet, budget, and operations skills to effectively manage P&L for the wastewater treatment operations * Develop and implement a successful business development approach of clients through direct client contact to capture new and follow-on work, expand TRC service offerings, and support TRC value propositions in wastewater operations offerings around the continental US. * Identify and develop new business opportunities, and delivery of responsive, high-quality services for wastewater operations.
