What the role is 

Our Principal Consultants are responsible for running whole project workstreams and contributing to our new business pipeline either through project extensions or new client relationships. There are three core focus areas that we use when thinking about consulting at Q5: 

1) Project delivery 

• You will independently mobilize, oversee & run project teams to deliver the best outcomes for our clients within the Energy sector 
• You will proactively manage stakeholder relationships within the Q5 client. 
• You will identify and/or execute mitigations to project risk as well as be able to manage multiple projects, have experience of different project/client environments and bring this to the client to help solve their problems. 

• You will manage the commercials – budget and resources for large projects. 

2) Business development 

• You will focus time towards developing and growing our North American Energy sector business 
• You will lead brand awareness campaigns, develop and sustaining your current relationships / network, as well as build Q5’s wider network 
• You will develop proposals and bids with expert insight (incl. thought leadership generation) 

3) Practice management 

• You will take responsibility for mentoring one or more of our Consultants or Senior Consultants, supporting their development as well as managing performance conversations with confidence and clarity. 
• You will contribute to the Q5 ecosystem by leading the development of new offerings, delivering training and leading internal transformation. 

Requirements

What we ask for 

The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in business transformation, ideally with understanding / experience of organizational design & effectiveness, and/or operating model projects. The candidate will also have deep Energy industry knowledge and experience.

You will have

• 10+ years' experience of shaping and delivering projects in the Energy industry, in either or both
• An Energy business - with a period of at least two years in a Transformation or Strategy role 
• A leading consulting firm within their Energy practice – with a focus on business transformation 
• Deep understanding and keen interest for the sector including an understanding of key market trends, history and businesses in the industry  
• Experience in organization design and/or transformation, supporting senior stakeholders to address complex organizational challenges. This includes capability in target operating model, job architecture, organization effectiveness, change management, culture, behaviors and ways of working type projects 
• Demonstrable experience of leading projects and teams in a similar consulting environment or significant demonstrable experience working in industry 
• Proven track record in generating billable work and ability to drive business development, network generation and proposal building 
• Strong written, verbal and communication skills, taking pride in developing compelling client deliverables and facilitating engaging workshops with complex and detailed subject matter 
• Intellectual curiosity and drive: be able to learn as you go, and problem solve challenges you come across 
• Demonstrable ability to lead and mentor others and help to foster a learning mindset in other members of the team 
• A Bachelor’s degree or above (various disciplines welcome) 
• Availability to travel/base yourself in region (Houston)
