Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal/Sr Principal Computer Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.
This position may be filled by either a Principal Computer Engineer level or a Sr. Principal Computer Engineer level based on the qualifications listed.
The selected candidate will be responsible for performing COTS design evaluations, development of requirements for commercial computing and data storage devices, the analysis of military systems requirements, and supplier interaction/management of commercial or military avionics and/or computing hardware. The selected candidate also should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Essential Functions:
Experience in COTS hardware, estimating application performance within the constructs of the hardware and methods of measuring application performance
Design and develop computer, network, and storage architecture, perform hardware integration and testing, and requirements analysis
Experience with trade studies, documenting subsystem architectures, analyzing performance, and evaluating Technology Readiness Level (TRL) with regard to supplier current and future products offerings
Experience with developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work
Build supplier evaluation criteria and experience in conducting technical evaluations, documenting results and selection
Ability to review documents from the supplier's development effort and support supplier technical interchange meetings and design reviews
Basic Qualifications:
For
Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of hardware design engineering experience OR Master's Degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of experience in the same
Must have demonstrated knowledge of computer architecture and associated elements: processing hardware, operating systems, networking standards/protocols (e.g. 1553, 1394, Ethernet), and data storage.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance
Must have the ability to obtain Special Program Access
Basic Qualifications:
For

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering
Experience with embedded systems, Linux operating systems, single board computers, networking components, or Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA)
Experience with integration of COTS electronics into military systems
Experience with supplier team management
Experience with working on a multidisciplinary team and writing technical proposals
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
A current, in scope DoD Secret or Top Secret level security clearance
Salary Range: $87,600.00 - $131,400.00Salary Range 2: $108,600.00 - $163,000.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
