TheTranscatheter Mitral Valve Replacement (TMVR) Principal Clinical FieldEngineer works closely with TMVR implanting teams to drive procedural success.You will provide technical support to ensure safeadoption and safe treatment of patients.

This field based role is open to candidates in New York City, Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, St. Louis or other major Midwest city. Must be convenient to an international airport.

  • Please note the specialrequirements for someone in this role:

  • Ability to conduct company business outside of the typical Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, work-schedule

  • Ability to travel with overnight stay up to 75% of the time (domestic and international)

  • Comfort level with clinical environment including potential exposure to infectious disease(s), radiation, blood borne pathogens

  • Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE)

TechnicalExpertise

  • Provide Intrepid device and procedural expertise for TMVR implanting centers, by providing echo guidance, technical support in accordance to with the instructions for use, observing sterile technique for TMVR implant procedures to assist with loading valves onto delivery catheter all to achieve best clinical outcomes.

EducationalSupport

  • Provide support for site performance and to facilitate safe growth. Assist in education and training activities with physicians, hospital support staff and Medtronic personnel. Stay abreast of and communicate clinical data regarding Medtronic products and TMVR therapy.

SiteSupport

  • Collaborate and strategize with Therapy Development Manager to achieve Pivotal trial enrollment projections.

EngineeringField Resource

  • Provides feedback from clinical sites on the performance of the product to be incorporated in engineering designs or enhancements, supports research and development in evaluating concepts for new products, and considers potential modifications for existing devices while serving as a technical resource between engineering and the customer.

A Day in the Life

Technical/ClinicalSupport

  • Provide procedural support to help sites achieve safe patient outcome

  • Provide Echo guidance for mitral valve treatment

  • Provide technical leadership for TMVR device procedures. Provide support on questions regarding device suitability with measuring ability and CT reconstruction expertise. Provide comprehensive support including knowledge of imaging modalities (echo/angiography/CT), EKG, blood pressure, wave forms, and ancillary procedural solutions

  • Knowledge of clinical trial protocols for TMVR devices for safe and effective use of devices

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive clinical and technical mitral product knowledge. Understands current published TMVR and relevant literature.

  • Recognize and understand competitive products, industry trends.

  • Provides feedback from clinical sites on the performance of the product to be incorporated in engineering designs or enhancements, supports research and development in evaluating concepts for new products, and considers potential modifications for existing devices while serving as a technical resource between engineering and the customer

EducationalSupport

  • Oversee local education and training activities including coordination and set up of procedure simulators, facilitation of simulated TMVR procedures and procedural troubleshooting, and coordination and facilitation of staff in-services to include pre/peri/post TMVR procedure

  • Provide CT and Echo Education with Intrepid Device

  • Provide education on safe and effective use of Medtronic products

  • Identify, establish and maintain productive working relationships with key decision makers, customers and their staff, administrative staff, etc.

  • Participates in customer/society education meetings and conventions

  • Respond to customer complaints to resolve complaints in a prompt and effective manner

  • Report and device complaints to proper departments within quality assurance within Medtronic

  • Help drive and maintain quality initiatives and global best practice initiatives

  • Maintain high standards of personal presentation and promote a professional personal and company image

ProfessionalDevelopment

  • Assist in training new hires to TMVR team

AdministrativeResponsibilities

  • Submit accurate and timely expense reports

  • Schedule travel arrangements to ensure multiple objectives are accomplished

  • Maintain hospital eligibility/access with various vendor credentialing services

Communication

  • Maintains a high level of communication with TMVR leadership and leadership within assigned geography

  • Communicate market intelligence/competitor activity promptly

  • Ensure a professional standard of written and verbal communication at all times

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 7+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, 5+ years of experience with a Master's degree

  • 4+ years case support experience

  • Experience with teaching/training medical personnel

  • Mitral Valve Cardiac Echocardiography experience

  • Imaging interpretation experience (TTE or Trans Esophageal Echocardiography (TEE), CT, Angiograms)

Nice to Have

  • 7+ years medical device industry, clinical or sales experience in an industry setting; selling or supporting interventional cardiology, vascular or surgical products

  • 5+ years' experience in Clinical Research, hospital, engineering or medical devices (3+ years' experience with Master's degree or 0+ years' with PhD)

  • 5+ years' experience collaborating with cross functional clinical partners, customers or sales colleagues in the health care industry

  • Exceptional understanding of cardiac and vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology

  • Excellent influencing and consulting skill

  • Ability to make timely and sound decisions under pressure

  • Thorough working knowledge of medical terminology, medical procedures and the medical device industry

  • Advanced degree in Engineering (BioMed/EE/Mech), Healthcare/Life Sciences

  • 2+ years' experience in the management of clinical devices

  • 5+ years' experience in a cath lab, biomedical engineering, hospital/clinic or medical sales

  • Ability to work with many different customers from varying backgrounds

  • Ability to successfully perform the essential functions of this job

  • Experience with wires, balloons, catheters, stents

  • Experience communicating product's instructions for use to physicians and hospital administration

  • Expertise with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Effectively build and maintain positive relationships with peers and colleagues across organizational levels and functions

  • Ability to coordinate/participate in numerous tasks/projects in a fast-paced environment in an organized manner while meeting deadlines
