Title: Business Development Representative

Business Development Senior Manager, Level 6

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

L3Harris BCS in Salt Lake City, Utah is currently recruiting for a Business Development Representative to identify, qualify and lead winning new business pursuits. This individual will oversee all phases of the capture process including early opportunity identification, requirements shaping, qualification, competitive assessments, development of "win" strategies, preparation of the proposal, and lead the overall pursuit activity for domestic markets. Qualified candidates will have a thorough understanding of the defense industry with specific emphasis with the Space and Classified Domain customers and associated business development process, including prior experience in business capture and proposal development, and/or a leadership position in a military or government environment.

This position will execute business development activities (campaign, individual pursuits, and the associated strategy) in the following areas:

  • Understand the DoD and US federal budget and trends

  • Understand current and future domestic market space

  • Understand competitor's strategies and strengths; be able to research new markets and identify potential customers.

  • Proactively create, cultivate, and enhance relationships with new customers and key contacts in industry and Government to help identify new business opportunities

  • Strategic development of advanced communications, Electronic Warfare, PNT and ISR capabilities for Space, Classified and interagency components

  • Customer engagement with prime platform contractors and Government agencies

  • Partner engagement with industry peers and small businesses

  • Other duties as assigned

Position qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, program management, or closely related discipline AND 8 years BD DoD experience OR Masters degree AND 6 years direct-related experience

  • Experience with the government acquisition and requirement development process is essential.

  • Hands on experience in marketing, sales, and writing successful proposals

  • 10+ years of directly-related work experience in a military or Department of Defense Business Development, Engineering, or Program Management environment is required

  • Must have current and active security clearance, TS preferred

  • This position requires regular domestic travel

Preferred:

  • Experience working within the space and classified domains

  • Experience in the creation of business capture/strategy development, prioritized investment plans, and corporate teaming/proposal development experience

  • Proven track record in building and maintaining relationships in our industry

  • Good oral and written communication skills are required

  • General computer literacy, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and/or similar tools required

  • Current and active TSSCI security clearance

This position can also work remote if the candidate has successful track record of current experience working remotely in business development and is within a 1 hour commute of a major US internal airport. This position will execute all business development activities (campaign, individual pursuits and the associated strategy, etc.) in the following areas: * Strategic development of advanced tactical communications, Electronic Warfare, PNT and ISR capabilities for Navy, USMC, and other DoD and interagency components * Maritime Domain awareness to include surface, subsurface, & air platforms * Tactical aviation and weapons capabilities including spectrum control, EW, communications and PNT * Customer engagement with prime platform contractors and Government agencies * Partner engagement with industry peers and small business * Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelors degree in an engineering or technical discipline AND 6 years of directly related work experience in a military or Department of Defense business development, engineering or program management environment is required. Experience with Naval operations, OPNAV, and Navy PEOs/ Acquisition Commands (NAVAIR). * Must have 6 years current experience in marketing, sales, business development to DoD customers * Must have current and recent experience writing successful proposals to DoD customers * Minimum a current and active SECRET DoD security clearance, or higher * Must have experience with the government acquisition and requirement development process * Experience in the creation of business capture/strategy development, prioritized investment plans, and corporate teaming/proposal development experience. * Proven track record in building and maintaining relationships in our industry. * Good oral and written communication skills are required. * General computer literacy, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and/or similar tools. * Able to travel on short notice * Able to travel 50-75% of the time Our Ideal candidate will also have: * Background within US Naval Aviation preferably with Tactical Aircraft and/or Unmanned Systems. * Current and active TSSCI security clearance L3harris Salt Lake City UT
