As the Principal Business Continuity Management Leader, you will support the Medtronic Business Continuity Management (BCM) program focusing on building overall business resilience in addition to developing the capability of an effective response to a crisis event.

A Day in the Life

You will be part of the MITG OPS department leading the effective and efficient implementation and ongoing management of Medtronic's BCM program at MITG supporting manufacturing; ensuring compliance with the corporate policy and BCM standards.

You will also advise local senior management about key operational risks and guide the development of innovative and value-added risk mitigation strategies.

You will:

  • Develop BCM expertise and become knowledgeable about Medtronic's BCM program, policy, standards/requirements, systems, and tools.

  • Promote local BCM awareness and provide BCM training and education throughout the local organization.

  • Manage the initial implementation of BCM at MITG OPS, establish scope and prepare project plan for implementing BCM at the site, guide critical business areas through a business impact analysis/risk assessment of their areas, advise site senior management of key operational vulnerabilities and help guide the development of appropriate mitigation strategies.

  • Facilitate the development of business continuity teams and plans for the site.

  • Organize a site-wide exercise to test the organization's business continuity plans and train BCM teams on response processes and procedures.

  • Track completion of follow-up items to address any plan gaps/weaknesses.

  • Manage the ongoing maintenance of MITG OPS BCM program:

  • Ensure timely completion of risk mitigation projects.

  • Ensure risk assessments and plans are annually updated and maintained.

  • Facilitate the periodic testing of all team plans and key contingency strategies and track completion of follow-up items.

  • Ensure compliance and adherence to BCM policy and standards.

  • Maintain site BCM scorecard and report progress/top risks/compliance with standards to Corporate Risk Management.

  • Partner with other sites within business sector supply chain to ensure consistent approach and alignment of continuity plans and contingency strategies.

  • Identify ways to embed BCM practices into existing procedures and processes throughout the organization in order to increase overall resilience and make proactive risk management a part of the organizational culture.

  • In the event of a crisis:

  • Lead the MITG wide site response; ensuring plans are executed according to established processes and procedures.

  • Liaise with Corporate Risk Management to report on site impact and coordinate corporate response if needed.

  • After event, facilitate a formal debrief of the crisis response, complete incident report, and manage updates to plans as needed.

Must Have: Minimum Qualifications

BA/BS in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Risk Management or related field plus 7 years business experience required; experience in manufacturing desirable.

  • Strong project management, consulting, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to identify operational/business risks and propose solutions.

  • Previous experience with business process assessment/improvement.

  • Able to quickly develop a working understanding of all areas of business operations including key functional processes and resources.

  • Able to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of personnel, both in verbal and written modes; solid presentation skills.

  • Must have strong analytical, organizational and decision-making skills.

  • Strong influencing skills to present new ideas, promote collaboration and generate buy-in.

  • Able to clarify and simplify technical aspects and highly complex information to managers and staff; strong coaching and training skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member, while using discretion in decision making and sound judgment in problem solving.

  • Demonstrated follow-through, initiative, attention to detail and drive for continuous improvement.

  • Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Powerpoint); proficient in the use of technology, including an aptitude for mastering new applications and training others in their use as needed.

  • Due to the unpredictability of the purpose of this position, ability to work unusual hours during an emergency situation as well as be willing to be accessible during non-working hours.

A Day in the Life As a core member of the Operational Excellence team, you will meet the Focus Factory's short and long-term goals for improved quality performance, increased service levels, reduced COGS, and EHS performance in support of the North Haven Site and Global Business Unit goals. This role supports ~$250MM cost of production across a variety of product families manufactured at the North Haven Operations Campus. Reporting to the North Haven Site Operational Excellence Manager, you will: * Direct reporting responsibility for Focus Factory (FF) Operational Excellence support staff * Coach and trainer creation of Opex structure as defined within the Medtronic Operating System global operational excellence program * Manage Operational Excellence programs and efforts at the FF for short and long-term goals achievement assuring culture and systems development in support of continuous improvement in cost and quality performance. * Manage FF Lean Sigma Certification Programs (Green Belt/Black Belt) and assure resources are leveraged for site continuous improvement activities * Responsible for Operational Excellence training programs and events at the FF (DMAIC, A3 Problem Solving, First Time Quality, etc….) assuring training and events support site goals for continuous improvement * Assure Operations Excellence training and programs are in place and managed to reduce operational costs by 5-7% yearly within the FF. * Lead plant improvement projects of significant size and scope both within and outside of FF responsibility * Assess plant management in selecting projects, project/team leaders and champions that align with business/functional goals and strategies. * Lead the coordination and deployment of the Focus Factory Operational Excellence plan for Cell Operating System (COS) and Medtronic Operating System (MOS) * Lead / coach COS conversion teams through COS playbook activity for successful a "Go Live" results. * Work with NPD teams on the Design for COS of new Production Cells. * Assist leadership in establishing baseline and target metrics for key processes. * Coordinate, and conduct as applicable, training in key Operational Excellence areas. * Support the Operational Excellence Manager in the overall deployment of OPEX training, best practice sharing and in mentoring project teams and leaders. * Coach, motivate and foster professional development of direct reports. Must Have: Minimum Requirements BS/BA degree in Business Management, Engineering, or other related field of study with a minimum of 7 years of business operations and/or plant manufacturing or engineering experience which included 3+ years of demonstrated process improvement program success. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE: The Principal OpEx Leader is responsible for building FF level goals and execution plans in support of the Manufacturing Focus Factory and other shared service organizations within the plant structure. Close working relationships and consensus building are required with all other site Leadership. (Other FF OpEx Leaders, Finance, Quality, etc…) The Principal OpEx Leader is responsible for the coordination of processes and resources in cross-functional, operations activities within the North Haven site.
