Overview
The Strategy & Operational Excellence team is on a mission to improve both our customer and employee experience by transforming how we plan, buy, make, and distribute products in Waters Global Operations. Our four pillars of focus include: Strategy, Processes and Systems, Continuous Improvement, and Insights.
As the Business Analyst on the Transportation Capability Team, you will be accountable for driving improvements to processes and systems related to transportation of goods inbound to manufacturing sites, outbound to global distribution centers, outbound to end-customers, and returns.
This will require you to collaborate with, and influence colleagues across our global network, drawing on both your own domain knowledge, as well as the cross-functional team you will be working with, to design, test, deploy, and drive adoption of new processes and systems.
This role will report to the Director, Transportation Management Capability Lead and can be based out of our Milford, US; Wilmslow, UK; or our European Distribution Centre in Netherlands.
Responsibilities
Play a key role in developing and refining our transportation capabilities
Collaborate with Waters's global network of manufacturing and distribution sites, as well as transportation partners to develop a good understanding of current processes and systems
Contribute to the development, deployment and delivery of new processes and functionality, supported with appropriate training programs, super-user groups, etc.
Partner with site leads and other functional leaders on the above
Collaborate and foster strong working relationships within the organization at all levels
Collaborate with external vendors to implement new systems, e.g., a Transportation Management System (TMS)
Identify best practices to be adopted into current business processes
Harmonize business processes across the global network where possible, to reduce complexity and facilitate digitalization and automation
Ensure appropriate process/system documentation is created/maintained
Analyze performance of the current processes / network and derive insights that help identify new improvement opportunities
Ensure the right metrics and targets are in place to monitor ongoing performance and take corrective action where needed
Research, track and communicate industry trends, share best practices, benchmark against other companies and applicable indices, with a view to bring innovation, competitive advantage, and increased profitability
Support cost/benefit tradeoff analysis and develop business cases for recommended projects involving process, system, or technology change
Conduct studies to determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow by analyzing costs, process flow charts, and production schedules.
Leverage Lean/Agile principles to drive continuous improvement in within the cross-functional team.
Qualifications
Minimum bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics or business; Graduate degree highly preferred
Solid experience in supply chain, distribution and logistics
Strong ability to handle large amounts of data, analyze and draw meaningful insights for decisions, proficient with data analytics and tools.
Ability to solve complex problems and drive improvements
Experience with Agile project management and tools/applications like Jira and Miro
Robust experience with the use of Lean tools, e.g. Value Stream Mapping, PDCA, visual management, and structured problem solving
Hands-on and deep experience with designing and deploying TMS and WMS processes and functionality, ERP systems and interfaces.
Experience with PowerBI and Celonis a plus
Self-starter; must be responsible, reliable, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision
Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written plus an ability to adjust communication style to different audiences as required
Proven ability to interact and influence a wide range of stakeholders - from service providers to colleagues, from peers to managers
Willing to challenge status quo and drive change
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple deliverables.
