Overview:

This position will be a key addition to SunPower's energy storage team. This position will provide technical leadership on cell, battery pack and battery management systems and will be involved in all decisions related to technology, test methodologies, safety, and regulatory. Experience with Li-Ion batteries is required, and experience with interfacing batteries to inverters is preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document engineering requirements for storage batteries

  • Analyze critical battery performance over usage lifecycle, including performance, lifetime and safety.

  • Decompose system requirements into subsystem and component requirements.

  • Understand usage cases of the batteries to provide criteria for selection.

  • Help develop tests as needed for verifying battery system performance and execute product design improvements

  • Develop System DFMEA and define risk mitigation plans for high risk items

  • Contributes to the development of company principles and objectives.

  • Achieves goals in creative and effective ways.

  • Provides technical guidance and reviews process/ equipment qualifications and development.

  • Broad knowledge and influence in technical areas outside designated assignment area (e.g. customer requirements, other technical fields).

  • Leads the collaboration and integration of various disciplines, functions and specialties.

  • Remains current on relevant technologies, emerging business and industry trends and competitive technical direction.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering and 8+ years of related experience or M.S. Degree and 6+ years or Ph.D. and 4+ years
  • OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience
