Principal Associate, Supply Chain

Capital One is seeking a Principal Associate, Supply Chain

Enterprise Supplier Management (ESM) provides a sustainable, competitive advantage to Capital One by:

Our job is to bring procurement resources, tools, methodologies and judgment to business units to "get the right deal with the right supplier". This involves managing major third party relationships in an effort to ensure that Capital One captures appropriate value for the company and meets acceptable corporate risk-profiles. In addition, we manage the on-going supplier reporting, supplier performance management, customer demand management and category strategy development.

At Capital One, Supplier Managers are expected to work in a collaborative environment with internal customers as well with other stakeholders within company. This role will have senior customers throughout the organization, so excellent influencing, communication and presentation skills are a must. Specific duties of the role will include:

  • Building strong internal and external relationships including learning about the business and services under management and understanding how suppliers fit into the end-to-end business processes

  • Monitoring performance of suppliers on a regular basis, developing action plans where necessary for areas needing improvement and follow through to ensure supplier specific results occur

  • Assisting internal customers with identification and analysis of prospective suppliers

  • Delivering cost savings while maintaining quality, often leading RFXs (RFQs, RFIs and RFPs)

  • Adapting to changing customer requirements and needs of internal risk management programs

  • Driving supplier contractual negotiations including terms and conditions, SLAs, and pricing for the benefit of Capital One and internal customers

  • Resolving and escalating critical issues timely and in a clear and concise manner

  • Operating independently and prioritizing workload

  • Managing and leading multiple complex efforts/projects concurrently in an autonomous environment

  • Managing the day-to-day supplier issues/opportunities (e.g. invoice issues, operational issues)

  • Using procurement systems (such as Coupa) for Purchase Order approval and payment processes, invoice reviews, research and reconciliation, researching contracting documents, etc.

  • Working with internal audit and other compliance and risk management groups and meeting TPM audit requirements

  • Ensuring supplier adherence to SLAs and other contractual commitments

  • Developing and delivering presentations to senior management in ESM and internal customers in the Retail Bank

  • Generating and analyzing datasets from procurement systems for spend, vendor and contract data

  • Supporting team reporting functions as required

  • Additional duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in Supply Chain Management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration
  • 5 years of experience in Supply Chain Management
