Principal Associate, Enterprise Learning Experience Designer

Within Capital One, the Enterprise Learning Experience Design team is bringing human-centered and instructional design practices to curricula and courses designed to help grow the careers of 50,000+ global Associates at Capital One.

Our team works collaboratively with program managers and developers to research, design and develop enhanced learning experiences and courses. At Capital One you'll notice a unique culture of enthusiasm, collaboration, innovation and agile creation happening on a routine basis. As a Learning Designer on the team, you will play a critical role in making sure our digital and in-person learning experiences are designed with the end-learner and business objectives in mind while leveraging Capital One's brand and design standards.


  • Conduct user research and assess business needs to inform the evolution of your design.

  • Identify adult learning models, methods and modalities that support your design strategy.

  • Create learner personas and journey maps with learning program manager to outline the broader scope of the end-to-end blended learning experience.

  • Influence stakeholders to adopt alternative solutions where applicable.

  • Work collaboratively with other program managers, internal communications specialists, designers and developers to ensure learning touchpoints are cohesive across the end-to-end experience.

  • Design using latest design software and tools for rapid prototyping including Articulate Rise, Balsalmiq, Sketch, Invision, Adobe CC, Video Software or HTML, CSS, JavaScript.

  • Conduct quick usability research sessions to evaluate prototypes with end learners.

  • Present usability research findings and recommendations to stakeholders to inform the next iteration of the design prior to launching.

  • Design highly polished blended learning touch points that adhere to our One Brand & Design guidelines.

Candidates should have:

  • A strong portfolio of learning or instructional design case studies

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Learning Design or bachelor's degree in Instructional Design or bachelor's degree in Educational Technology or military experience

  • At least 5 years of experience creating a learning strategy and curriculum based on learner needs, business needs, and modern learning theories and models

  • At least 5 years of experience designing blended learning experiences

  • At least 5 years of experience in touch points in digital and classroom settings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in related field

  • Experience working with agile team of learning program managers, designers and developers

  • Experience working within Atlassian JIRA for project management

This is a new position that involves leading project work and developing innovative approaches to evaluate and measure effective learning system approaches within and across complex organizations. This position will work with senior leaders across organizations and manage the project work across teams/subcontractors to develop and test of learning across health care delivery and payment models You will mold the direction of future learning programs and be a key player in building a culture of continuous learning across complex organizations. Key Functions: * Plan, implement, and evaluate health communication, organizational effectiveness and learning system activities designed to impact positive health outcomes, organizational strategy and payment model development. * Create learning communities and manage collaboration across work programs to ensure information sharing and integration of related activities including managing coordination of project work including sub-contractors * Identify best practices and standardization to integrate information and activities across programs and projects * Develop strategies and implementation plans for government programs for health initiatives and campaigns for the general public and other audiences, including innovative demonstration projects. * Lead organizational analyses and provide recommendations for organizational changes to meet sponsors goals including learning systems * Coordinate and conduct activities related to long- and short-range planning; program and project development, implementation and evaluation; target audience research; and translation and dissemination of scientific information to audiences in a variety of formats. * Lead development of strategy for stakeholder engagement, stakeholder analyses, organizational assessments, development, and design supporting health related organizations. * Lead application of communication theories and models to health communication campaign development; use audience segmentation analysis and formative research to select appropriate communication channels and messages to achieve positive health outcomes including digital and social media. * Develop, test, and disseminate science and scientific information and audience-based products, tools, and messages (i.e., via written, electronic, and audiovisual formats) to different audiences in a variety of formats. * Develop tools/metrics to measure program/project impact Required Qualifications: * Minimum of 10 years related experience * Master's Degree/ Ph.D. in Health Communication, Organizational Effectiveness or related field * Education or experience in Organizational Learning Systems to including experience implementing change across healthcare systems. * Experience with healthcare clinical environments and their adoption of alternative payment models. * Experience with contract management and demonstrated ability to partner with sub-contractors to achieve excellent results. * Experience in leading communication campaigns in print, digital and social media. * Demonstrated competencies in the ability to develop partnerships across industry. * Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
