Position summary

T-Mobile is America's supercharged Un-carrier, delivering an advanced 4G LTE and transformative nationwide 5G network that will offer reliable connectivity for all. Principal Architects, Systems located in Bellevue, WA will design and architect internal and external business systems, applications, systems interfaces, databases, reporting, and business intelligence systems to deliver new systems functionality supporting corporate business objectives.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as the design and technical lead on complex projects, contribute to strategic vision and technical decisions, participate in vendor analysis and section projects, introduce process improvements, complete proof of concepts projects for introduction of changes to our architecture, and provide oversight on the work of other technical staff.

  • Maintain expertise as a SME in three or more e-commerce technical disciplines and define architectural standards and best practices within those disciplines.

  • Interact with Senior management to effect solutions for enterprise business requirements.

  • Guide Architectural focus groups as prime subject-matter expert in area of expertise.

  • Mentor team members on new technologies in area of expertise and prepare and maintain documents that include architecture diagrams, data models, and navigation maps in area of expertise.

  • Analyze and prepare recommendations to address existing and potential trouble areas in systems (Care, Direct, Indirect, Self-Serve portals) and procedures (Add-A-Line, Activation, Upgrade, Payments) across the organization, as well as design and prepare recommendations on new solutions in relation to both hardware and software design.

  • Provide direct technical evaluation of third-party products for inclusion in T-Mobile solutions.

  • Help define software development processes and update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

  • Understand the business processes on Projects Assigned and accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.

  • Explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Translate business requirements into technical requirements and assist other team members in implementing the solution.

  • Telecommuting is permitted, but applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance.

Skill requirements:

  • (1) Leading strategy and technology innovation for business critical e-Commerce, Marketing, Enterprise Application Integration, and data initiatives at enterprise level partnership, proposing ideas to reinvent and improve the Business;

  • (2) Guiding and developing applications and microservices using technologies such as SpringBoot Microservices, AWS/Azure Cloud, Apigee, Go, Python, SQL, Java Script, HTML, Docker, Kubernetes, Apache Kafka, Bitbucket, GitLab, Maven, and Apache Tomcat;

  • (3) Designing the architecture of overall B2B and B2C applications, handling the team technically to deliver the solution using various technologies like JAVA/J2EE, Angular, Oracle/SQL, Oracle/SQL Server, Spark/Cassandra, IBM Websphere Commerce, and JMS;

  • (4) Utilizing Web, SOAP, REST, and XML services to conduct Enterprise integration and building eCommerce applications using store front and extended sites model of commerce;

  • (5) Designing and implementing various subsystems of IBM WCS like Catalog Management Subsystem, Member Subsystem (e.g. User, Account, Organization), and Order Management; and

  • (6) Customizing and implementing Application caching System and IBM DynaCache, Apache Java caching system, and Micro Services for B2B Stores on IBM WCS Platform for better performance of application.

Experience and education requirements:

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems, or related, and 7 years of relevant work experience.

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: We will accept a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent to a Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems, or related, and 7 years of relevant work experience.

OTHER: Work hours: 40 hours/week. Washington Pay Range: $184,487.63 - $222,800.00/year.

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance, while Retail and Business Sales roles are eligible for monthly or quarterly sales incentives.
