Job Purpose (Job Summary):

A principal cloud architect has three core responsibilities, implementing and execution of our Cloud strategy, developing and coordinating cloud architecture, leading change for cloud adoption.

Our cloud architects will be responsible for architecting and designing comprehensive solutions that meet business requirements in support of a given project or capability. Cloud architects will be responsible for partnering with key roles (e.g. Application Engineering teams or other Infrastructure functions) to create solutions that are aligned to our architecture principles, leverage common solutions and services, and meet the financial targets (cost and benefits) as defined by Infrastructure leadership.

Business communication, project management and technical leadership are all important trait of a successful architect in the Invesco Technology organization. The Cloud Architect will be expected to lead in the development of the technical solution or offering, in translating the business needs into technical requirements. They will be expected to handle complex, long-term focused projects involving multiple disciplines or business units, while providing direction to high priority or special projects undertaken by different business areas. The cloud architect will also provide high-level specialized technical support and consultation to business and Technology management.

Any domain architect will also have broad knowledge of all different aspects of the technology landscape, as well as robust business domain knowledge. Will be responsible for validating a complex architecture and ensuring its successful implementation.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Design of a Secure Cloud Foundation, repeatable cloud patterns, templates, and/or accelerators to enable faster business IT adoption of cloud service.

  • Development of process and code required to transform traditional services to modern architectures

  • Lead large scale and complex cloud service development programs

  • Consult, Advise and Facilitate the implementation of cloud practices and services

  • Promote, mentor and educate the client community on Cloud Adoption, Operating Guidelines/Principles, and Cloud Services/Solutions

  • Build a strong relationship and rapport with key stakeholders, including business partners, Application leads and other Infrastructure functions (Engineering, Operations, etc.)

  • Technical leadership and exposure across a broad scale of tools, technologies, and architecture models.

  • Ability to engage with technical members from other teams to collaborate on designs and specifications for cross-functional technical solutions

  • Keeps abreast of current developments and trends in Infrastructure and assigned business domain through networking, continuing education and industry/technology publications

Work Experience / Knowledge:

  • Advanced Experience with AWS services like: CloudFormation, IAM Policies, EC2, Lambda, S3, Glacier, Multi-Region VPC, Route53, Security Groups, ALB/ELB/NLB, CloudWatch, etc

  • AWS Certified Solution Architect associate or high, or ability to pursue certification within 18-24 months of hire

  • Knowledge of how to build cloud ready applications, containerization, microservices and serverless application architecture

  • Foundational knowledge of data centric services used by data science professionals

  • Financial services experience in Asset Management preferred

Skills / Other Personal Attributes Required:

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact and communicate throughout the organization with a variety of individuals at all technical levels is required.

  • Knowledge of mutual fund industry, data and processes highly preferred.

  • The ability to cooperate in a team environment is critical.

  • Must have the ability to manage projects, establish priorities, meet deadlines and concentrate on detailed information in a fast-paced, demanding work environment.

  • The ability to influence others so that project objectives are met is required.

  • The ability to cooperate in a team environment is critical.

  • Must have the ability to present technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Formal Education: (minimum requirement to perform job duties)

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field of study or equivalent years of direct experience required
  • A Master's of Business Administration in a related field is preferred or commensurate relevant work experience

Working Conditions:

  • Normal work environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust and temperature.

  • Regular working hours; flexibility of timing is available depending upon the project or assignment.

  • Frequent sitting and intermittent walking is also required.

  • Hours may include occasional evenings and/or weekends. Frequency and duration to be determined by manager.
