Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is looking for a Principal Dynamics Engineer at the Manned Aircraft Design Center of Excellent (COE). The preferred candidate will have a strong foundation in structural dynamic analysis with concentration in flow-structure coupling and aeroacoustic analysis. The applicant will be a contributing member in all matters related to vibro-acoustics, dynamic response analysis, and will help in the development of dynamic analysis tools, methods and processes.

The candidate will also be responsible for reviewing qualification test plans, attending supplier vibration tests, and documenting test results following MIL-STD-810. Knowledge of flight test instrumentation including excitation systems, accelerometers, strain gages, sample rates, anti-aliasing and telemetry data processing techniques is required. Knowledge and familiarity with post flight data processing and the resulting data products pertaining to aeroacoustics and dynamics is also required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in one of the following: Mechanical Engineering/Aerospace Engineering with minimum of 5 years of engineering experience or MS degree in one of the following: Mechanical Engineering/Aerospace Engineering with minimum of 3 years of engineering experience

  • 3 years of experience in Structural Dynamics, Aeroacoustic and Flow Structure Interactions working on military or government projects.

  • Working knowledge of Structural Dynamics and Aeroacoustic design and test requirements including military standards and specifications.

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of automated software testing methodologies and processes

  • Demonstrated ability to meet very short deadlines and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Knowledge of the following tools: MATLAB, NASTRAN, FEMAP, IADS, and FEMTOOLS.

  • Active DoD Secret clearance

This position will be located in Melbourne, FL. Essential Functions: * Perform Aerodynamic analysis, design and flight test support for the E-2D development and production programs. * Conduct detailed aircraft aerodynamic performance analysis. * Perform aircraft design using aircraft sizing tools and developing design space. * Provide documentation of analysis rand flight test results, generate and approve technical reports and CDRLs. * Support flight test instrumentation. Reduce, review, analyze and correlate aerodynamic data acquired during flight tests and wind tunnel tests. * Knowledge and experience with MATLAB required, prior experience with CFD a plus. MELENG vehicleeng Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university and at least 9 years of aerodynamic design and analysis experience. * Must be proficient in MATLAB and have experience in wind tunnel test, test data analysis, simulation analysis, and flight demonstration& validation tests required. * This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs. Preferred Qualifications: * Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university * FORTRAN and CFD experience a plus. * Aerodynamic analysis & design experience in the unique environment of naval aircraft design. * Prior experience with turboprop aircraft and propeller theory. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Active DoD Secret clearance.
