Overview

The Principal Aerospace Engineer position is a full-time exempt position. The individual will lead engineering activities including: the development of modeling and simulation tools, developing GNC algorithms and architectures and implementing them in flight simulations and test vehicles, performing trade studies and performance assessments of aerospace systems, and providing oversight of engineering activities. The successful individual will have a proven record of success in technical innovation and an attitude that contributes to the achievements of strong individuals working together to accomplish challenging goals.

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of classical and modern feedback control methods, theories, and research techniques in the design, analysis, modeling, and simulation of aerospace systems

  • Develop 6 Degree-of-Freedom models and algorithms for implementation in simulation and control of aerospace vehicles

  • Perform engineering trade studies to support flight vehicle design and/or performance analysis

  • Support hardware-in-the-loop test bed development, flight vehicle integration, and flight test preparation for aerospace vehicles

  • Document and present analysis results to technical leads, management, and/or customers

  • Lead the development and on-time delivery of technical products to our customers

  • Assist with technical leadership tasks, including, performing technical design reviews

  • Ensure corporate policies and procedures are adhered to in the day-to-day performance of duties

  • Support program meetings and technical reviews with internal and external customers

  • Support business development efforts by generating innovative concepts in support of technical proposals

  • Support other duties as assigned

Skills and Competencies

  • M.S. or higher degree in Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related field

  • At least 12 years of engineering experience with Aerospace systems, design, development, and test for DoD program required

  • Multi-disciplinary experience with the elements required for aerospace systems product development including aerodynamics, flight dynamics, guidance, navigation, and control, sensor integration, and subsystem integration

  • Engineering programming experience in C, C++, MATLAB and/or Simulink, and python

  • Must be able to plan and organize time to work productively and efficiently while adjusting to changes in priorities and schedules

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required

  • The ability to travel up to 10% of the time

  • Ability to organize work and deliver on time work products

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time

  • Ability to bend, stretch and lift up to 10 pounds occasionally

Clearance

  • Active Secret Clearance Required

This Flight Test Engineer position will be primarily involved with the AMRAAM® missile that is a multi-platform, multi-service weapon, reporting to the IVC Field/Test Support Section Lead and Department Manager. You must be able to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. The work is performed under general direction and you must be able to independently determine and develop solutions. This is a demanding, hands-on, flight line support position. You may be required to work non-standard and extended hours under potentially extreme conditions. There's no such thing as a perfect candidate, so don't hold back. Responsibilities to Anticipate * Flight test planning, execution, and data review. * Missile build and testing, flight line missile preparation and testing. * Extensive use of COMSEC equipment, AIS computers, and telemetry equipment * Maintaining and reconfiguring munitions, monitoring weapon telemetry in a control room environment performing flight line operations and communicating directly to customers on a daily basis. Qualifications you must have: * BS in Engineering - Preferred Majors: Electrical, Aerospace, Mechanical, Software, Physics or Systems.
