GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab9, the world leader in RF semiconductor manufacturing in Essex Junction, VT, is seeking a mid-level semiconductor equipment engineer. The individual selected for this position will be part of the Manufacturing Engineering organization with primary responsibilities focused on support and continuous improvement of 200mm semiconductor equipment in the CVD Novellus Area.

Essential Responsibilities:

In your role as Equipment Engineer you are responsible to support the Fab9 CVD Novellus team. This responsibility includes, but is not limited to:

  • Drive continuous improvement efforts in support of tool availability, throughput improvement, cost reduction, and yield learning.

  • Ability to marry both the equipment and process sides of issues, focusing on delivering the right results on product.

  • Work in close collaboration with Process, Maintenance, and Manufacturing teams

  • Set up equipment performance KPIs, monitoring and adjustment according to fab goals

  • Must be mechanically inclined and able to lead hands on, tactical troubleshooting efforts to resolve long term performance issues; must be able to deconstruct and understand complex systems

  • Define and maintain equipment installation roadmaps - Drive equipment planning, equipment selection and configuration with the area process engineers, including installation, start up and volume ramp of process equipment.

  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments to screen and optimize equipment to meet technology (performance, yield, and reliability) and manufacturing (process stability, cost of ownership) targets.

  • Establish and manage the equipment budget and cost model

  • Collaborate with GLOBALFOUNDRIES integration and process engineering to support development of improved next generation technologies.

  • Support technology transfer to other fabricators.

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Technology related Bachelor's degree: Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or other relevant discipline.

  • 5-7 Years of Relevant Experience

  • Fluent in English

  • 10% travel may be required.


  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years experience as an equipment engineer

  • Experience working with CVD Novellus equipment

  • Knowledge of semiconductor/silicon processing

  • Understanding and knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE).

  • Prior experience to working in a semiconductor cleanroom environment.

  • Technology related Masters and/or PHD degree: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Solid State Physics or other relevant discipline

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, customers, internal and external partners.

As a member of the engineering team, you will work on factory capacity planning, product flow analysis, equipment-use optimization, new product ramps and productivity improvements. You will analyze ways to balance equipment utilization, meet production demand and capital spending targets. This position requires an individual with strong analytical and problem solving skills. This position will be located at GLOBALFOUNDRIES in Essex Junction, Vermont. Essential Responsibilities: * Provide industrial and operations engineering for unique factory equipment and semiconductor processes flows, this includes analyzing capacity constraints, optimizing product flow and forecasting equipment utilization. Identify opportunities to improve equipment utilization and product flow thru equipment sectors. * Execute and analyze factory capacity models * Work effectively with equipment module teams to propose solutions and analyze business case with respect to capacity and capital. * Ensure execution of committed tactical and strategic equipment plans. * Provide engineering support for manufacturing operations including work study analysis, flow optimization, and speed modeling. * Participate and lead problem solving sessions using structured approach and lean methodologies * Communicate effectively across teams in manufacturing operations, engineering and maintenance. Provide clear documentation and summaries of actions, goals and risks.
