The role of the Aerospace Corporate Chief Engineer's Office (CCEO) is increasingly important in a time of change - where the space domain is transforming to a competitive international arena, where space development involves new and innovative technologies and business models, and where intersections are maturing between military, civil, scientific, and commercial space. The Enterprise Systems Engineering Office (ESEO) Principal Director will be responsible for advancing CCEO core capabilities and innovating new solutions to support the transformation of the Space Enterprise. The ESEO Principal Director is responsible for: collaborating with industry, CCEO internal and Aerospace external customers to advance mission assurance practices to achieve mission success across the Space Enterprise; working with industry to identify and pursue high-leverage technology developments; and advancing corporate command media documented in technical instructions.
To accomplish the mission, the ESEO Principal Director currently manages a team of four employees and leverages expertise throughout the corporation. The Principal Director reports to the Corporate Chief Engineer and the position can reside in Chantilly, VA or El Segundo, CA.
Key Functions
Ensure mission success in a highly dynamic future space industry through best practices, innovation, and efficiency
Lead an inspired team, built on trust, while creating a climate of empowerment and enablement
Evolve corporate processes and instructions to address Aerospace customers' needs for speed, resilience, and innovation in a contested environment
Provide thought leadership to advance agile mission assurance initiatives
Develop and lead the corporate Enterprise Integration industrial base surveillance team
Lead the advancement of Continuous Production Agility (CPA) across space, launch, and ground
Establish, facilitate, and lead industry forums to improve the state of the aerospace industry
Execute and manage the Early Problem Alert Program, and the Aerospace President's Review processes
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, science or math
15 or more years of progressively responsible professional engineering/scientific experience including program office experience
Experience in systems engineering related to mission assurance
Demonstrated technical leadership, mature judgement, strong interpersonal skills for interacting with Aerospace peers and executive management, contractors, customers and corporate staff
Demonstrated organizational skills in planning and managing tasks, projects and/or personnel
Requires ability to establish and maintain highly effective internal and external working relationships and achieve a high level of customer satisfaction
Demonstrated experience in building and leading teams with diverse skills mix
Demonstrated outstanding oral and written communication skills
Moderate Travel Required (post COVID-19)
Current SCI access
Preferred
Advanced technical degree in engineering, science or math
Aerospace ETG and Program Office experience
Aerospace management experience in either ETG or a Program Office
Current, or ability to obtain SAP accesses
