Job Description

Come join our ICW division at Cypress where we are building solutions to enable new applications for the

embedded products of tomorrow to connect things to the cloud and machine-2-machine.

We are looking for a candidate who has a passion and strives to exceed the exceptions.

As an HW Application Engineer, you will help key customers design and build the systems for smart home

devices, fitness trackers, car electronics, and many other cool things that represent the next evolution of the

Internet where everything will be connected together.

You will also work closely with engineering and sales and marketing to help grow our IOT business.

Your responsibilities for this position:

  • Engage closely with sales, engineering and customer to bring up new designs, troubleshoot customer prototypes and develop solutions for their WLAN/Bluetooth combo products.

  • Schematic and layout design reviews.

  • Test, characterize and optimize the WLAN/BT performance on customers' board designs, including help them with regulatory compliance test.

  • Resolve all hardware problems and failure analysis to ensure customer's product performance is best-inclass and on time.

  • Coordinate with internal chip design, systems and software engineering teams to debug and verify new chips and reference boards.

  • Professionally manage relationships with key customers. Drive high customer satisfaction through excellent customer service, problem solving and responsiveness.

  • Design reference board development for customers - drive all phases of hardware system development from concept to production, including schematic, component selection, layout, and board bring-up.

  • Develop customer documents such as data sheets, design guidelines and application notes.

  • Train Field Applications Engineers.


Job Requirements:

qualifications, knowle dge, skills, abilities, education, experience:

  • Typically requires BSEE degree with 15+ years, an MSEE degree with 10+ years in relevant fields with a strong track record of success or equivalent experience.

  • Ability to work with a variety of internal teams in Hardware and Software Engineering, Systems, Field Applications Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Regulatory teams and external customers.

  • Experience with RF board design - understand the design rules, schematic capture, layout and related CAD tools such as Allegro and OrCAD.

  • Hands on debugging RF wireless systems, optimization/tuning system performance, and knowledge of FCC compliance test.

  • Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscope, network analyzer, VSA, and other WLAN/BT test equipment like Litepoint.

  • Understanding of various host interfaces: PCIe, SDIO, USB, I2S, I2C, UART, DDR/flash memory, microcontroller, and sensors are a plus.

  • Knowledge of analog design, power management unit like switching regulator/LDO, power amplifier/LNA, and noise sensitive circuits.

  • Experience in embedded system design or applications/customer support would be a plus.

  • Demonstrate ability to design turnkey solution and understand all aspects of product life cycle are a plus.

  • Knowledge of Python script is a plus.

  • Strong team-player and practical hands-on problem solver.

  • Ability to multitask in a high energy environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and enthusiasm for solving customer problems in a collaborative manner.
