About the Opportunity Help us succeed by doing your part as a member of our Prime Room as an Adhesive Primer.

A Primer Applies adhesive primer to anodized surfaces of aluminum and titanium aircraft parts applying knowledge of surface preparation and painting techniques, using spray painting equipment, power tools, and work aids

NOTE: THIS POSTING IS FOR A POSITION ON OUR SECOND SHIFT Major duties of a Primer include:

  • Applies adhesive and corrosion primer coating to prepared aircraft structures in accordance with engineering planning documents and customer specifications.

  • Masks and covers surfaces not to be painted.

  • Uses spray equipment to spray specified amount of thickness of primer onto prepared surfaces

  • Regulates controls on equipment to cure and dry paint or other coatings.

  • Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.

  • Reads and follows engineering pictorials for the masking and priming of parts, and the inspection of parts for defects.

  • Records completion of painting operations on planning documents.

  • Understands coating and cure times and schedules work to meet schedule requirements.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.

  • At least two years of industrial paint/prime application experience is desired.

  • Must be proficient in the usage of hand tools.

Essential Functions * Maintains a commitment to the district motto, mission, vision, and values; models district expectations through personal leadership and example; and actively supports the efforts of others to achieve district goals. * Promotes an environment of cultural competency and responsiveness for students, parents, staff and stakeholders. Maintenance and Repair * Prepares surfaces for painting, including sanding and removing old paint, filling holes, cracks, and joints with appropriate filler. Tapes, floats, and textures walls and ceilings. * Selects premixed paints or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint to match specified colors. * Paints surfaces, using brushes, spray gun, paint rollers, or other methods to achieve required effects. Stains, seals, and varnishes wood surfaces. * Erects scaffolding, sets up ladders, or uses hoists to perform tasks above ground level. * Picks up and delivers painting supplies to campuses; maintains delivery records. * Receives and completes work orders. Identifies and completes needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment using established inspection procedures. Maintains accurate records on material and labor used. * Maintains inventory of tools and assists with inventory control of materials and equipment. * Inspects jobs after completion and ensures areas are clean. Safety * Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures that equipment is in safe operating condition. * Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing. Operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. * Handles and dispose of paint, stain, varnish, and other chemicals according to established procedures. * Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor. Required Qualifications * Education: High School diploma or GED * License/Certification: Clear and valid Texas driver's license * Experience: 5 years as painter Insurability Requirements for all Drivers * Must be at least 23 years old * No positive drug or alcohol test including, Pre-employment, Random, Post-Accident or Reasonable Suspicion. * Driving and Accident Record * No more than 2 moving traffic violations (including no more than 1 preventable accident) during the previous 36 months. * No driving under the influence, D.U.I. (Drug or Alcohol) conviction during the previous 10 years in a commercial or personal motor vehicle. * No vehicular homicide * No operating a vehicle with a Suspended or Revoked Drivers License * No using a vehicle in the commission of a Felony * No operating a vehicle without the owners permission, Unauthorized Use or Grand Theft * No reckless driving or speed contests * No leaving the scene of an accident - Bodily Injury or Physical Damage.
