Job Summary:
Strong healthcare operations leader and practicing primary care clinician responsible for the oversight of Carbon Health's primary care clinical teams within a region. A successful Pod Medical Director is intrinsically motivated, challenge-driven, rethinks traditions and genuinely cares about employees and patients. The Medical Director acts with an owner's mindset, cultivating new ideas for driving business performance by leading the clinic team, managing financial outcomes, and supporting patient retention and growth through effective operations and direct patient care.

Essential Functions:
Patient Care
Deliver up-to-date, evidence-based, and compassionate care to patients in clinic
Perform procedures within scope of primary care
Collaborate with clinic leadership to facilitate efficient patient flow through all Pod clinics (Hub and Spokes)
Supervise clinical care performed by clinician team of physicians, PAs and NPs
Document care in timely and accurate manner
Promote professional development for clinician team
75% clinical work/30% administrative work
Carry and manage a patient panel of 1500 patients
Quality Management:
Focus on training/education on Care Gap Closure
Panel Management and Population Health management and training for POD team
Assisting care teams to achieve Quality Metric scores per company goals across the POD
Chronic Care management and education
Ensuring all POD teams are following evidence based guidelines for management in all quality measure areas
Monthly IDT presentation on Quality best practices
Review and train provider performance for quality incentive plan.
Operations Management:
Effectively communicate and operationalize Carbon Health's mission, vision and values
Attend and participate in administrative meetings
Engage in special projects related to clinical quality improvement and innovation
Lead regular team meetings, resolve conflict, motivate employees and foster a culture of communication that promotes employee retention and the highest quality of patient care
Environment of Care:
In partnership with the POD Manager, set, communicate and maintain the highest quality of care and safety standards
Maintain a safe and clean environment; enforce compliance and clinic response to emergencies, OSHA standards, and infection control
Build positive relationships with clinicians, support staff, patients, community and vendors; manage conflict with care and empathy
Implement policies and procedures to meet state and federal guidelines
Communicate and respond to patient inquiries with a sense of urgency
Financial Accountability:
Demonstrate working knowledge of financial statements, clinic billing procedures and all insurance types and payor guidelines; adjusts, in coordination with district and regional leadership
Responsible for being up-to-date and knowledgeable with regard to diagnostic and procedure coding, and how it affects reimbursement (training staff as needed)
Review, update and standardize forms and procedures as needed
Institute necessary modifications to procedures and clinic resource commitments as financial changes dictate
Prepare documentation and participate in evaluation and acquisition of capital equipment and supplies in partnership with the District Medical Director

Provide exceptional customer service for patients both in-person and within digital platforms
Qualifications (education/experience/skills)
Minimum:
Active MD, DO, NP or PA license, board certified or board eligible; Family or IM/Peds
Minimum 4 years of experience in Primary care setting
At least 2 years of leading primary care teams in the practice setting
Ability to consult and treat patients of all ages
1+ year leading others in a healthcare setting
Understanding of financial statements, P&L management and HR business processes
Active listener that uses soft skills to build and maintain trusting relationships at all levels of the organization
Excellent communication and interpersonal, time management, planning, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
Practicing primary care provider
Clinical Expertise: Deep understanding of evidence-based practices and guidelines in primary care.

Eligibility:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Must be 18 years of age or older
Availability and Willingness Requirements:
Willing to visit multiple care sites on a weekly basis
Willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
Willing to travel for business meetings as requested
Willing to lift and move boxes weighing up to 30 lbs
Patient Care:

About You:

$225,890 - $288,000 a year
Compensation offers include an hourly rate plus a wRVU bonus plan, and a balance of factors such as level of education, experience, work history, and geographic location. The Company complies with all state and local wage and hour laws and provides a total rewards package of compensation plus benefits including medical, dental, and vision benefits, 401(k) plan, learning and development programs, Learning Time Off, and Paid Time Off.
