We are looking for a Pricing Model Developer to play a critical role in revolutionizing Sompo's pricing capabilities through the development of pricing tools in a new cutting-edge web-based pricing platform (HX). In this role you will lead the development efforts for account pricing tools to enable a best-in-class pricing experience for underwriters. This is a great opportunity for the right individual to work as part of a global team to drive this pricing transformation as a key point of contact between actuaries & underwriters for all products. This position can be located in New York, NY Alpharetta, GA or Charlotte, NC.

Responsibilities include:

• Support development and implementation of the new Sompo pricing platform, providing improved pricing tools across all classes, in line with the agreed plans.

• Work with the pricing & underwriting teams on the development of new models, rating tools and the continual improvement of existing ones.

• Promote consistent coding best practices.

• Support the development and enhancement of Pricing Management Information & Underwriter applications.

• Engage with overseas offices to ensure pricing tools are appropriate in local territories.

• Assist the technical modelling leader in other projects, as required.

• Keep up to date with insurance industry's technology and modelling trends.

Technical Skills

• Proficient in Python, with a solid understanding of SQL and database management to support effective data integration and analysis.

• Hands-on experience building web-based pricing tools.

• Application Development experience (R shiny, Power Apps, web interfaces)

• Solid understanding of conventional actuarial techniques and standards of practice

Other Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of non-life actuarial pricing experience is a distinct advantage.

• Ability to work in an Agile framework.

• Effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work closely and effectively with the development team, pricing actuaries and Underwriters, ensuring clear communication and alignment of technical objectives and project milestones.

• Exhibits self-motivation and drive; takes initiative without the need for approval.

• Highly professional, enthusiastic and positive attitude.

• Ability to handle complexity and distil out and explain key concepts.

Salary Range: $95,000- $190,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
