Pricing Auditor

Job Description Summary:

To use advanced tariff and freight transportation knowledge to research and answer questions from service centers, corporate departments, and customer third parties to assure accuracy of freight bills.

Critical Job Functions:

• Apply rates, discounts and charges to freight bills using the AS-400 computer system, or manually apply rates in instances where the system is incorrect.

• Review requests for freight bill audits or updates and make corrections thereto and/or formulate recommendations and communicate with requestor.

• Communicate necessary changes and corrections to Pricing Analyst or Pricing Admin.

• Research origin of errors and adjustment impact.

• Answer requests for tariff rule interpretation.

• Audits tariffs and contracts for errors.

• Work closely with collections, customer service and other service center personnel to provide expert assistance regarding all aspects of our freight billing and correction procedures.

• Work with third party contacts and customers in order to discern issues and communicate corrections in a professional manner.

• Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Keyboarding skills of at least 45 wpm, good organizational skills, research and problem-solving skills, strong PC Skills (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook), data entry experience, excellent phone manners, accurate with details and a demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle a variety of tasks in an organized manner.

• Experience with bills of lading, tariffs or general experience with a motor freight common carrier is preferred.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as bill of lading, pricing contracts and tariffs.

• Communicates internally with entire corporate office, externally with Roadrunner customers and RDFS service centers.

• Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

• Understand discounts, minimums, rate bases, origin-to-destination matrices, and LTL concepts such as weight breaks, "as weight" and accessorial language.

• Proficient typing (ability to type 45 words per minute), filing and ten key skills.

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units or measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

• Ability to prioritize, organize and delegate assignments.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and lifts objects up to 15 lbs.

• Work Environment:

• The noise level is moderate based on general conversation tones, ringing phones and laser printer operation.

• Work in well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
