As a Pricing Analyst, you will work to support Sterling's strategic pricing initiatives. The individual will report to the Vice President of Pricing and Revenue Management and will be responsible for analyzing the impact of pricing decisions, monitoring pricing exceptions and communicating them throughout the organization. The analyst will add value to the organization in several ways:

  • Drive corporate profitability through pricing monitoring and management by analyzing product volume, margin and competitive prices to provide guidance (e.g. proposed prices and overall impact) to divisions in their price setting process

  • Contribute to the competitive pricing strategy and ensure pricing impact is achieved by providing detailed analyses to assist divisions in their pricing decisions

  • Prepare analysis and data on tactical and strategic pricing results across verticals and divisions by coordinating or obtaining key data from the systems / teams for the analyses

  • Communicate price list process and strategy to key contacts within the various divisions

  • Facilitate inter-division communication and sharing of best pricing practices

  • Learn the account setup process and build capabilities to audit and ensure the accuracy of the process

  • Assist Sterling in other ad hoc pricing-related initiatives

This Is What We're Looking For:

  • Prior Experience 1 - 2 years' experience in a Pricing, Finance, Strategic Marketing or Product related role

  • Education BA/BS required, preferably in Business, Finance, Economics or related field. Advanced degree a plus

  • Communication skills Advanced writing and communication skills with outgoing, diligent, proactive attitude. Must be able to interact with colleagues senior to him or her, as well as actively participate in meetings and group discussions with individuals from various parts of the organization (e.g. sales, systems, division operations)

  • Analytical skills Must be able to follow detailed instructions to perform complicated financial analyses, as well as determine basic analyses required to support the division groups in their pricing decisions (e.g. structure the problem, collect data, identify issues, and present results)

  • Technical skills Advance Microsoft Excel skills is required. Familiarity with Microsoft Access, Salesforce CPQ, SQL, and VBA are a plus.

This role is flexible on location, we would prefer a candidate to come into our global headquarters in Tinton Falls, NJ but could also be open to a candidate in Austin, TX, Reston, VA, NYC or Itasca, IL. We are looking for someone who can provide expertise in pricing and analytics to join the pricing team. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and a high attention to detail. Position Responsibilities Include: * Develop revenue/margin impact analysis modeling for product introductions and pricing changes detecting insights and pricing trends * Create pricing recommendations for new products using competitive and market analysis while working cross-functionally with product management, marketing, channel, and sales teams * Support development of Commvault's pricing strategy including socialization with executive team when necessary * Analysis and reporting of Commvault pricing performance on a periodic basis, create new reports/views as the needs of the business change, and integrate analytics/reporting into newly built web-based tools * Ad hoc pricing and packaging analysis, occasionally answering questions from senior leadership * Design an as-a-service pricing framework and own additions/updates/reporting Position Requirements Include: * Minimum 3+ years' experience in pricing or applicable finance role * Advanced excel knowledge * Attention to detail and accuracy a must * Highly motivated to take on dynamic role and execute quickly in a fast-paced environment * Experience at in depth financial analysis using Tableau, Microsoft BI, Excel Pivot Tables, and/or R * Ability to communicate findings and analysis effectively to executive or senior leadership * Establish relationships with key internal stakeholders to act collaboratively and negotiate successfully * Proven track record of effective written and oral communication with internal corporate teams, field sales, and external partners * Proactive, responsible, accountable, and able to work as part of a team * Software pricing experience a PLUS, but not required Commvault New York NY
