Position Summary:

Provides pricing and structural support for all of AEP Energys retail electric and natural gas sales efforts. Responsibilities include identifying all components of cost that are applicable to delivering energy to end use customers including but not limited to energy, capacity, transmission, and renewable energy. Establish product structure and prices quoted to retail customers, ensuring that the quotes conform to supply costs and other risk/ pricing policies. Maintain and improve current knowledge and understanding of market trends, electric supply, and fundamentals across various energy markets.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Pricing Specific Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing timely and accurate deal valuation for standard and non-standard retail electric and natural gas product offerings with a focus towards sales support and customer retention.

  • Assist in the development, deployment and maintenance of the retail pricing models and tools.

  • Maintain pricing assumptions, review commodity curves, and follow tariff and regulatory changes.

  • Answer technical questions and provide product development guidance, education, and analysis to increase understanding and price clarity across the organization.

  • Improve processes and document changes

  • Report pricing performance metrics.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

  • Advanced Knowledge of Excel

  • Ability to work with large data sets.

  • Some understanding of energy and/or commodity markets

Education & Experience

Requirements:
  • A Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering or the Sciences is required.

Under general supervision, perform intermediate pricing analyses and provide actuarial support for filings. This position works closely with the Actuarial Manager, Actuarial Director, Data Scientists, and Product Managers to develop appropriate pricing and product strategies to support organizational goals. Position Responsibilities: * Produce sound rate level indications with intermediate understanding of actuarial ratemaking methodology * Support state filing process with actuarial memorandum, actuarial filing forms, correspondence with regulators, measurement of rate impacts, and documentation of analysis * Perform intermediate pricing analyses, such as rate calculations, base rate offsets, territorial pricing, limit and deductible pricing, segmentation analysis, and coverage analysis * Quantify, validate and prepare proposed rates * Prepare actuarial proposals for management and business partners * Pull, aggregate, and query ratemaking data * With supervision, develop recommendation on rates and rating plan to satisfy financial objectives of the organization * Perform intermediate trend analysis (e.g. frequency and severity trends) * Assist with the automation and enhancement of processes to improve efficiencies * Assist with financial forecasting * Assist on pricing projects and ad-hoc requests * Assist with the production of management information to inform business partners on the health of the business * Communicate effectively with management and business partners * Adhere to internal and external compliance requirements/standards * Develop skills through continuing education opportunities Position Requirements: * 1+ years of experience as an actuarial analyst or quantitative pricing analyst, or related experience; Property & Casualty experience preferred * Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics or related field, or the equivalent in related work experience * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel * Successful completion of 1 or more actuarial exams * Proficiency in VBA, SQL, SAS, Python or R preferred Our employees enjoy great benefits: * Qualify for your choice of health and dental plans within your first month. * Save for your future with robust 401(k) match, Health Spending Accounts and various retirement plans. * Learn and Grow with our Tuition Assistance Program, paid certifications and continuing education programs. * Contribute to your community through United Way and volunteer programs. * Balance your life with generous paid time off and business casual dress. * Protect what you love with discounts on home and auto insurance products. * Get employee discounts for shopping, dining and travel through Kemper Perks.
