Job Summary:

To maintain and operate the Seafood Department including the preparation and pack out of fresh and frozen seafood according to company and department standards while providing the best customer service.

Essential Job Functions:

The essential job functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.

  • Ability to work with a wide variety of fresh, dried and/or processed products including shellfish, spices and powered substances without negative allergic consequences.

  • Ability to tolerate moderate amounts of dust and chemical agents during routine housekeeping duties.

  • Ability to perform basic math skills.

  • Ability to tolerate varying temperatures.

  • Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.

  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25lbs., and occasionally lift 50 lbs.

  • Ability to adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations.

  • Meet all work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.

Requirements

Job Responsibilities:

The job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.

  • Maintain department sanitation and QA standards by cleaning and sanitizing all work surfaces, utensils and equipment. Keep floor clear of debris and spills.

  • Greet all customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.

  • Follow approved procedures for receiving, code dating, preparing, storing, and price marking, scaling, and restocking products to ensure quality protection, accuracy and product rotation.

  • Be knowledgeable in and able to differentiate between all various types of seafood and related merchandise including taste, preparation method or use, and price differences between varieties of similar classes of products (i.e. different types of shrimp, scallops, etc.)

  • Contribute to controlling freshness and quality of product.

  • Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods.

  • Check refrigeration equipment for proper performance regularly; report any failure immediately.

  • Must be knowledgeable to calculate, if necessary, product gross margins and retail prices.

  • Utilize and maintain equipment as required by department; report any equipment problems immediately.

  • Be knowledgeable in the company's HAZCOM program and adhere to manufacturer's label instructions for the safe and proper use of all chemical products.

  • Adhere to all Federal, State and Local regulations as they pertain to the Food Service operation.

  • Dress according to company policy to include white shirt, black pants, apron, name badge and hat or hair restraint.

  • Comply with QA hand washing standards and use disposable gloves when handling food.

  • Complete all applicable department training programs.

  • Comply with all Price Rite Service Priorities: clean, fresh and friendly.

  • May ring a register.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Expectations:

  • Part Time work hours
  • Our business requires a flexible scheduling consisting of days, evenings and weekends. Weekly average hours for part time is 20-25. Hours fluctuate weekly in accordance with business needs.
  • Part Time Training Requirements
  • All Team Members are provided paid training and expected to successfully complete all components of training within the first 30 days. This includes web based and hands-on training.
  • All Team Members are expected to report to work as scheduled and required to record work time through our electronic time and attendance system. Excessive lateness and/or absences is not acceptable.

  • Team Members are expected to meet efficiency and productively standards.

NOTE: ASSOCIATES MUST BE 18 YEARS OLDER TO OPERATE BALERS, HI-LOS, POWER JACKS AND SLICING MACHINES

Provides direct support to the Purchasing Agent regarding expediting routine inquiries receiving and delivery of orders and special projects as assigned. Performs a variety of clerical tasks. Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills. Responsibilities: Confers with department to answer routine inquires. Expedites orders using effective verbal communication skills. Performs shipping/receiving functions as required. This includes but is not limited to: checking material received against P.O. for verification of quantity and general condition of merchandise. Handles delivery to various departments hospital-wide. Handles all service calls for office machines (typewriters calculators dictaphones photocopiers paging units computer equipment etc.) and maintains appropriate log book. Initiates corrective action as required. Maintains all files completely; printed forms sample file Receiving log and Inventory File. Packages wraps labels and prepares all items to be shipped from the Hospital. Initiates and maintains appropriate �returned-goods� and �shipping� records. Keeps assigned work area clean. Maintains inventory of Hygiene and Medical supply stockroom. Rotates stock on a routine basis. Fills supply orders and delivers to requesting Nursing units. Completes a variety of forms reports charts etc. by use of a keyboard or typewriter. The level of typing is that of a proficient typist with accuracy and timeliness required. Operates a variety of office equipment; typewriter calculator photocopier and computer terminal. As requirements develop may perform other duties as assigned by Director of Purchasing.
