We are recruiting for individuals with training and practice experience as a Prevention Program Specialist. We have two positions available. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages complex partnerships, planning, and development efforts with local and statewide entities, including but not limited to behavioral health provider agencies, county Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Boards and other state departments, including ODE, ODH, Higher Ed, and JFS.

  • Represents the agency in statewide partnerships that support program development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of prevention and early intervention programming.

  • Develops and implements statewide policies, programs, and practices for mental, emotional, and behavioral health promotion and early intervention prevention strategies that support families across the lifespan.

  • Develops, plans, coordinates and implements multi-sector efforts across the prevention and early intervention continuum of care across the lifespan.

  • Supports sustainable prevention and early intervention frameworks that provide evidence-based, culturally appropriate programming and services.

  • Expands indicated prevention practices within the prevention continuum for those demonstrating high-risk behaviors including substance use, to reduce harm and prevent development of dependence.

  • Manages systems change and cross system collaboration to inform programs, policies and practices; coordinates activities between multiple systems, providers and partnerships at the local, regional, and state level supporting prevention and early intervention programming, resource development and dissemination.

  • Plans, coordinates, and manages budgets and provides technical assistance and training to local and state partners, and grantees.

  • Identifies workforce development needs and acts as a subject matter expert to state agencies, ADAMH boards and providers regarding evidence-based programs, policies, strategies and practices.

  • Provides technical assistance & training to partner agencies, stakeholders, & community organizations; provides leadership in developing & implementing plans for community services & programs.

  • Develops program proposals & assists in reviewing & preparing grant applications for compliance with applicable standards and assists with reporting to state and federal funders (e.g., state regulations, professional standards, policies & procedures).

24 mos. exp. in delivery of health/human services; 36 mos. exp. in management; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in prevention services (e.g., conducts studies/surveys, coordinates program implementation & ensures compliance to federal rules & regulations); 24 mos. exp. in writing job-related technical reports; 12 mos. exp. in grant administration.

  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in human services field (e.g., social work; psychology; sociology; nursing); 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in management; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in prevention services (e.g., conducts studies/surveys, coordinates program implementation & ensures compliance to federal rules & regulations); 24 mos. exp. in writing job-related technical reports; 12 mos. exp. in grant administration.

  • Or completion of graduate core program in human services field (e.g., social work; psychology; sociology; nursing); 24 mos. exp. in management; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in prevention services (e.g., conducts studies/surveys, coordinates program implementation & ensures compliance to federal rules & regulations); 24 mos. exp. in writing job-related technical reports; 12 mos. in grant administration.

  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist or Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant or

Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Independent Social Worker with prevention experience.

Minimum 12 months experience working in prevention of substance use and other risk behaviors, mental health promotion and early intervention across the lifespan, including suicide prevention.

Knowledge and experience of screenings and brief interventions for universal, selective and indicated populations.

The candidate must clearly show how the minimum qualifications are met. All education and experience are subject to verification.
