Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a Pressure Systems Engineer to provide program support and technical guidance to Linde Gas US plants. The pressure systems engineer will collaborate with the Mechanical Integrity team, Reliability Engineers, plant personnel and the capital projects team to support fixed equipment analysis, repairs, and upgrades. This position will report to the LGUS MI Manager and can be located in Deer Park, TX, The Woodlands, TX, Geismar, LA, Tonawanda, NY, or Whiting, IN.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support for fixed equipment activities throughout the fleet.

  • Work closely with the Mechanical Integrity team to assess inspection findings, develop repair plans, and identify root causes to eliminate repetitive failures.

  • Stay updated on applicable industry standards to ensure Linde facilities are aligned with requirements. Revise internal standards and policies as needed to ensure compliance.

  • Provide engineering support to facilities to close gaps in PSI information and management systems. This includes performing engineering calculations or interfacing with other technical resources to secure required documentation of PSI.

  • Complete calculations for PSA vessel fatigue cracking inspection, reformer tube creep, and torque for specialty flanges.

  • Support fixed equipment upgrades by managing small capital projects and/or providing technical expertise to Project Managers.

  • Review PSV test reports and recommend interval adjustments as needed based on results.

  • Assist as needed during fixed equipment MI inspections and corrective action execution.

  • Identify fixed equipment bad actors and chronic damage mechanisms and develop strategies to resolve.

  • Lead or assist in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities for fixed equipment failures.

Qualifications:

This position requires a combination of office work and field work. This position typically requires approximately 25% travel domestically.

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering preferred and 10 years' experience as a fixed equipment technical resource in a PSM regulated facility.

  • API 510 and 570 certifications are a plus.

  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently as well as to lead and participate on cross-functional teams

  • Able to manage multiple priorities, drive issues to completion, and obtain results.

  • Understand the multi-disciplinary aspects of corrosion & materials selection

  • Familiarity and experience with most engineering materials (metals & non-metals)

  • Experience with most common NDE and NDT technologies and applications

  • Working knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel (Section VIII), Piping Codes (B31.3), API 510, API 570, API 653, etc.

  • Experience with industrial metallurgical coating systems and corrosion mitigation techniques including cathodic protection, insulation, coating systems.

  • Reformer and refractory-lined equipment experience is a plus.

  • Experience working within or supporting OSHA PSM-regulated facilities or processes, and knowledge of how mechanical integrity program elements apply to fixed equipment.

Pay Range: 106,575 - 156,310
