TITLE: Press Brake CNC Operator



This position performs press brake operations to produce a variety of sheet metal parts and components in accordance with the customer specifications.

  • Utilizes the Production Schedule Report in due date order to produce production on schedule.

  • Exceptions will be communicated by production control or operations manager.

  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, follow routers and use math to perform

  • Must have a good understanding of angles and tolerances.

  • Must be able to operate, install tooling and set-up mechanical and hydraulic press brakes.

  • Must be able to perform visual inspection and dimensional inspection using calipers and

  • basic measuring tools.

  • Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.

  • Update computer records and paperwork in accordance with production requirements.

  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on presses as required.

  • Maintains work area in clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.

  • Must have a working command of the English language, and be able to communicate orally

  • and in writing.

  • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


  • Ability to perform essential duties

  • High school education or GED

  • Minimum of five years of set-up CNC Press Brake experience

  • Must have working experience selecting the correct tooling for the bends required

  • Must have working experience in calculating and entering the axis, part offset, dimensions, angle, bend length and bend allowances

The Sexton business fits within the ITW Drawform Division and is a market leader in the manufacture of high-pressure aerosol cans and after-market filter shells and is seeking Press Operators that will be located at the Decatur, AL facility.</p><p>Press Operators are responsible for the operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of the automatic cycle hydraulic transfer presses supporting production. Knowledge of quality, attention to detail, and emphasis on maintenance are essential elements to a successful job performance.</p><p>$17.55 + $1.50 shift differential ; $1000 stay bonus</p><ul><li><p>Remain up-to-date on the production schedule including identification of the size, style, and specification of can to be produced and perform immediate visual and dimensional inspection of cans.</p></li><li><p>Communicate with Operator from previous shift regarding transfer maintenance, operational, and safety issues and review any issues associated with product quality.</p></li><li><p>Maintain consistent throughput with both work in process and finished product.</p></li><li><p>Prepare for any changeovers including arranging all necessary materials ready and staged, as appropriate, to minimize non-value-added activity.</p></li><li><p>Change fingers, adjust/replace gearboxes, change caps/pressure rings and other associated tooling as needed.</p></li><li><p>Perform visual and dimensional inspection to ensure products meet quality standards.</p></li><li><p>Troubleshoot surface (inside and outside) imperfections.</p></li><li><p>Report all nonconformities to the Quality Department and Shift Supervisor immediately.</p></li><li><p>Perform SPC data checks on an hourly basis.</p></li><li><p>Change/replace finishing press punches or bushings in addition to trimmer on transfer as well as repair broken bolts and minor oil leaks.</p></li><li><p>Understand and operate control panels appropriately.</p></li><li><p>Operate and maintain D&amp;I unit, trimmer/flanger, and finishing press in addition to repairing and replacing D&amp;I ironing cap, sleeve, and pressure rings.</p></li><li><p>Adjust the chain and position of pockets in line with finish press tooling in addition to shim pressure rings, line up caps, and other tooling as required.</p></li><li><p>Assist Maintenance and Tooling Departments during heavy maintenance and changeovers.</p></li><li><p>Support the replacement of hydraulic cylinders, pumps, air cushions, couplings, platens, bushings, pins, etc.</p></li><li><p>Replace or repair conveyor belts and prime hydraulic pumps when needed.</p></li><li><p>Operate presses on other lines as needed.</p></li><li><p>Complete all required documentation accurately and completely.</p></li><li><p>Maintain a clean work environment by following housekeeping instructions and 5-S philosophy.</p></li><li><p>Follow all company processes and policies including Quality and Safety policies.</p></li><li><p>Work overtime and perform other duties as required.</p></li></ul> Illinois Tool Works Decatur AL
