SUMMARY
The President is the Chief Administrative Officer responsible for the accomplishment of the Agency's mission and the organization's integrity and vitality. Working with the Board, the President sets the strategic direction of the Agency. The President oversees governance of the ADRA network, service delivery, fundraising, finance administration and general human resource management to ensure that these functions are conducted in accordance with the Board's expectations, industry standards and government regulations. The President is the primary spokesperson for the Agency and advocates for people in poverty, crisis and chronic distress. Act as a key member of the ADRA ADCOM team, fostering a spirit of collaboration and collective leadership. Engage positively and productively with the broader network, with a specific focus on engagement with the global ADRA team.

PRE-REQUISITES
Required
- Minimum master's qualification in a related field.
- Minimum fifteen years' experience in senior management positions in a non-profit environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Board of Directors Relationship
- Report to the Board of Directors on the Agency's operations, finances, implementation of plans and policies, and keep its leadership fully informed of key developments, issues and progress.
- Collaborate with the Board in visioning, planning, budgeting and resource development.
- Plan and develop, in coordination with the Board, systems and policies for governance of the Agency.
- Assist the Board leadership in Board development, orientation, and ongoing cultivation of member engagement.
- Support the Board leadership in policy making, oversight functions with information, coordination, staff, and other forms of assistance.
- Attend all meetings of the Board as secretary, except certain executive sessions such as to review the President's performance, status and/or compensation.
- Make recommendation to the Board regarding policies, capital expenditures, contracts, leases, other development initiatives, and opportunities of significance.
- Develop an annual budget for Board approval and provide regular financial and budget expenditure reports to the Board.
Internal Agency and ADRA Network Leadership
- Provide knowledgeable, progressive and creative thinking about the industry and the Agency's position and potential.
- Communicate a clear sense of direction that can be understood and embraced by all levels of the Agency.
- Develop new program/project concepts and strategies, working together with senior staff, ADRA network offices and the Board.
- Inspire, direct and work effectively with direct reports, other senior management and ADRA network executives to provide the leadership, values, structure, technical and administrative systems that maintain a healthy, positive, productive and ethical culture.
External Leadership
- Act as official spokesperson for the Agency to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, media, governments, and other public and private organizations.
- Ensure the effective positioning, branding and marketing of the Agency and its programs based on policy developed by and with the Board.
- Represent the Agency to organizations that have strategic value to the Agency's mission and encourage appropriate opportunities for such representation by Agency staff.
Agency Management
- Manage the agency, including oversight of all programs, services and systems.
- Implement Board policies, strategic plans and conduct periodic review of progress.
- Lead the Administrative Committee as described in the Agency's bylaws and in order to share and coordinate leadership responsibility with senior management.
- Provide executive oversight to all activities associated with assigned units including:
- Ensure unit structure, staffing, programs, services, work plans, operating policies, procedures, communication protocols, performance indicators and allocated resources are aligned with Agency goals and strategies.
- Assess unit performance and provide periodic feedback.
- Manage the performance of respective directors including the development of accurate job descriptions and work plans, performance assessment, informal feedback, annual assessment, coaching, training and opportunities for professional growth.
- Facilitate the appropriate integration of assigned units with administration, other units and network offices.
- Ensure units appropriately engage in strategic partnerships and alliances.
- Make timely decisions with appropriate consultations.
- Ensure the use of contemporary human resource policies and practices including compensation, benefit plans, performance management, recruitment, diversity and occupational safety.
- Monitor the fiscal condition, policies and operations of the Agency, ensuring fiscal sustainability and integrity.
Resource Development
- Ensure that progressive steps are taken to seek, acquire and sustain government and private funding.
- Oversee the Agency's development, performance and regulatory compliance of programs funded by government grants, cooperative agreements and procurement contracts.
Legal and Risk Management
- Ensure that the Agency operates within all pertinent laws and regulations, Board policies, and General Conference Working Policies relevant to General Conference institutions.
- Ensure that the Agency seeks to limit employment hazards with the use of appropriate personal safety policies and procedures.
- Take other appropriate precautions to limit risk and exposure to the agency.
Miscellaneous
- Any other job-related instructions or assignments provided by the Board chair or designate.

TRAVEL
Up to 60% domestic and international travel required. Must have the ability to travel on short notice if necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION (OSHA)
Person must be able to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation. Incumbent should be in optimal health for difficult and temporary below-basic living conditions at overseas location and for field travel in general.
