Pre-season Tax Professional duties include:

  • Conducting tax interviews with clients

  • Increasing retention of all clients

  • Offering additional products and services

  • Generating business growth by supporting business to business sales activities

  • Providing IRS audit support & attending audits, as needed

  • Growing tax expertise

  • Mentoring and supporting teammates

What you'll bring to the team...

Required Skills & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Experience completing individual returns

  • Tax planning and audit support

  • Ability to effectively communicate in person and in writing

  • Knowledge and experience with a Windows-based computer system preferred

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment

  • Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment, H&R Block Income Tax Course, or equivalent

  • Additional experience for this position is acquired through training upon hiring.

This individual will report directly to the Tax Department Manager and will have the following responsibilities: * Develop, analyze and implement tax planning strategies * Prepare all aspects of ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes including: * Preparation of quarterly tax provision estimates and related work-papers including deferred tax schedules and journal entries * Preparation of Return-to-provision calculations * Timely and accurate preparation of US Federal, State and Local tax returns * Preparation of research and development credit, including documentation requirements in accordance with the Internal Revenue Code * Fixed asset management ensuring that tax fixed assets are recorded accurately * Assisting in Foreign and Indirect tax return preparation as needed * Preparing cash tax forecasts and Op Plan estimates * Maintenance of tax data collection systems, tax compliance software and electronic work-papers * Supporting tax audits * Identify areas of potential process/system improvements * Preparing and delivering concise power-point presentations * Building relationships and interacting with internal and external customers Position Requirements: * Bachelor's degree required in Accounting, Finance or related; * Master's in Taxation degree or J.D. or willingness to obtain * C.P.A. required * Current corporate taxation experience is required * Strong accounting and analytical skills * Experience with tax research software is preferred * Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment * Ability to collaborate with cross-functional business partners at all levels with a team oriented customer service attitude. * Attention to details and comfortable working in a fast paced and continually changing environment. * Ability to manage multiple complex projects independently and meet deadlines under pressure. * Proficiency with Microsoft Excel with the ability to create pivot tables, V-lookups and macros. * Experience with Corptax Income Tax and Provision software packages is preferred. * Experience with Hyperion/HFM and Oracle is preferred * Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. * Some travel may be required.
