Job Summary

Exercising a high degree of discretion, trust, and confidence to execute duties effectively and efficiently, this safety-sensitive position is responsible for providing a safe, educational, and positive learning environment for participants of the State Licensed Small Center Preschool Program at the Parker Fieldhouse.

Examples of Essential Duties

Responsible for maintaining a safe, educational, and positive learning environment for participants.

Guides and supervises program participants and assigned staff through daily activities.

Assists the Preschool Director in planning and implementing a variety of preschool age educational and recreational opportunities and associated lesson plans.

Maintains the schedule for, and administers, when necessary, medications to participants in accordance with State regulations and parental instructions.

Responsible for the set-up, tear-down, and clean-up of daily activities and programs.

Assists the Preschool Director in conflict and challenge resolution in relation to the Preschool program.

Handles disciplinary situations with participants in accordance with State regulations and parental instructions.

Assists in inventory management.

Complies with all policies and regulations of the Recreation Division and the Town as well as the requirements for licensing by the State of Colorado.

PERIPHERAL DUTIES:

Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, or a related field.

Six (6) months of verifiable experience working with children in a child development program.

Possession of or the ability to obtain CPR, First Aid and AED Certifications within thirty (30) days of hire.

The ability to successfully pass a background screening including, but not limited to, CBI/FBI criminal record check, Department of Social Services Central Registry check and drug screening.

The Town of Parker Fieldhouse Small Center Preschool program is licensed and regulated by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood. As a condition of employment, candidates for this position must meet criteria established by Section 7.702.45 (P.50) of the Rules and Regulations for Child Care Centers that provide less than 24-hour care, as they are provided now or amended hereafter.

An equivalent combination of education and experience to provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations, and techniques used in operating a licensed child-care facility.

Knowledge of computers and modern office practices and procedures including Word, Excel, and recreation software.

Skill in the supervision of preschool aged children.

Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment background screening.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to interact with and maintain positive, professional, and effective relationships with staff, guests (including participants and parents), Town officials, other Town employees, community organizations, and the general public.

Ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt effective courses of action using problem-solving techniques.

Ability to adapt to organizational changes.

Ability to ensure compliance with Town and Departmental policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

Ability to plan for short and long-range goals and implement techniques that will achieve those goals.

Ability to handle stressful situations.

Ability to create, plan, and implement a childcare curriculum for program ages 3 to 5.

Ability to complete a minimum of fifteen (15) hours of continuing education/training annually.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Various computers, software packages, telephones, facsimile machines, copy machine, printers, small hand tools, and other various equipment used in a childcare center.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk, and frequently use hands, fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to carry, pull, push, or lift up to 50 pounds.

Employee must communicate clearly and effectively; must understand and be understood. Must be able to frequently engage in ordinary or telephone conversations with speech and hearing.

Employee must be able to consistently see with near and far acuity, depth perception, color vision and field vision. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust his or her focus, allowing a broad field of vision.

Occasionally, the employee will be required to work outside in varying temperatures and conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in a climate-controlled office environment, but may be exposed to extreme cold/heat and wetness/humidity on an occasional basis. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and may range from moderate to high with occasional vibrations. The employee will occasionally encounter fumes, odors, or dusts.

Full pay range is: $22.81/hr. - $28.90/hr.

Hiring pay range is: $22.81/hr. - $24.93/hr.
