Petersburg, FL is looking to hire an energetic and passionate full-time Preschool Teacher to provide a safe, fun, and educational environment for our early learning center participants at our brand-new Lealman YMCA Preschool Academy. This full-time childcare position starts at $14/hour plus additional compensation up to $19.00/hour given for credentials and experience. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PRESCHOOL TEACHER

As a Preschool Teacher, you are essential to the daily operations of our preschool academy. You provide a safe, positive environment for the infants or toddlers you work with.

Always alert, you provide proper supervision as well as establish and enforce rules to promote positive behavior. You build relationships during parent conferences and keep this good rapport going through regular communication. Parents feel good about leaving their children in your loving and capable hands.

With enthusiasm, you help implement a curriculum based on child development principles and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development. You also attend to children's basic needs, including supervising mealtimes, playground time, and free play.

You are also conscientious about keeping records up to date and accurate while ensuring compliance with standards and regulations. As someone who loves your job, you happily attend and participate in all activities, meetings, and training. You find your job highly rewarding!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PRESCHOOL TEACHER

  • At least 18 years old

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent OR a college degree in a related field

  • Ability to pass a drug screening

  • Ability to pass a background check

  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs.

  • Ability to interact with infants, toddlers, and young children for extended periods of time, both indoors and outdoors

CHILDCARE WORK SCHEDULE

This full-time childcare position typically works 40 hours per week, various shifts between 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Monday - Friday.

Current openings are in infant and toddler classrooms. This is an excellent opportunity to join a mission-driven organization that offers training, development and growth potential.</p><p>Primary Responsibilities:</p><ul><li><p>Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.</p></li><li><p>Assists in the supervision of children, classroom, and all activities.</p></li><li><p>Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.</p></li><li><p>Establishes and enforces rules to promote positive behavior.</p></li><li><p>Attends to children's basic needs including supervising meal times, playground times and free play.</p></li><li><p>Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.</p></li></ul><p>Qualifications</p><p>Must be at least 18 years of age. Position requires High School diploma or equivalent, CDA or equivalent, completion of MODS (Introductory Child Care Training, Parts 1 &amp; 2) and one or more years previous experience working with children in a developmental setting. Must be able to interact with infants, toddlers and young children for an extended period of time both indoors and outdoors. Pre-employment drug test and background check required.</p><p>Physical Demands</p><p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend and reach with hands and arms. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.</p><p>Monday Friday, part-time or full-time; $12.00-$16.00/hour.
