(Preschool Disabilities Class)

TITLE: Special Education Preschool (Preschool Disabilities Class)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must hold teacher Preschool through Grade Three (P-3) certification or Elementary School Teacher and Teacher of Students with Disabilities or NJ Teacher of the Handicapped

• Demonstrated knowledge of effective early childhood and inclusion teaching practices.

• Ability to maintain a learning environment inclusive of learners of all abilities

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain knowledge associated with early childhood learners including children with special developmental and learning needs.

• Support the development and learning of individual children, recognizing that children are best understood in the context of family, culture, and society.

• Plan, implement and assess utilizing developmentally appropriate curriculum and assessments that advances all areas of children's learning and development, including social, emotional, behavioral, intellectual, and physical competence.

• Established supportive relationships with children and families.

• Communicate effectively with parents to discuss students' progress, provide home/school learning connections.

• Teaches assigned grade level/subject reflecting the Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education.

• Familiarity with Tools of the Mind and inclusive instructional practices preferred.

Terms of Employment:

• 10-month work year subject to negotiations between the FREA and the Board of Education
