Substitute PRESCHOOL TEACHER II

School-Day/School-Year Preschool Classroom

The district seeks a Substitute Preschool Teacher II for the school-day/school-year preschool classroom.

Major Responsibilities

• Work with the lead teachers in planning and preparing materials for children's learning activities

• Conduct learning activities with children

• Contribute information that helps teachers in assessing, recording and reporting children's progress and using the results of assessment to plan activities

• Supervise children's activities to assure their safety

• Assist in maintaining a safe, clean and orderly learning environment

• Provides classroom coverage in the absence of the lead teacher

QUALIFICATIONS

• Successful teaching or substitute experience at the early childhood and/or kindergarten levels

• Familiarity with the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Current First Aid, CPR and medication certification or willingness to obtain

• Work is primarily in a classroom environment. Preschool classrooms are dynamic with a high level of activity. Incumbent must be able to lift 40 pounds. Other physical demands as specified in job description.
